I am in love with the new Between The Trees album. I wasn't planning on writing anything about it but I've played it way too often to let it be. Here's the full review: http://muzikdizcovery.blogspot.com/2009/08/spain-album-review-between-trees.html
We Can Try was the first single released off the album. The intro starts with an instrumental version of the chorus with guitar as the melody and piano as the lyrics. The verses are calm with background drums and piano. The guitar comes in right before the chorus and gives plenty of intensity. The chorus flows extremely well and has gotten stuck in my head many times. The bridge is a great guitar part followed by a great final chorus. This was definitely a perfect choice for the first single. An amazing track to start off one of my favorite albums so far this year.
Spain begins with upbeat keyboard as guitar comes in to accompany it. The verses are definitely a huge contrast to We Can Try. However, the chorus is extremely good. The lyrics and vocals are both amazing. It flows perfectly and as in We Can Try has gotten stuck in my head. It contrasts from the verses in a way that works well. The final chorus builds up intensity as the instruments come in the second time through. Another amazing track.
The One Thing begins acoustically with piano. Between The Trees has definitely created diversity between each song. The verses are very calm and peaceful. Drums give the chorus a little more intensity without totally disrupting the mood. The drums continue on through the chorus along with the verse. The intensity is at its highest during the bridge until it eases off slightly in the chorus. After the first two songs on this album, this one seems only decent. It's a very good song, but pales in comparison to the first ones.

It's an ok album. Not anything to phone the presses about. It's basically the marriage of powerpop a la All American Rejects with piano alt pop a la The Fray, which is made plainly obvious by Jeff Powell as producer, as well as the big choruses on "Move" and "Scarecrow" that have "Over My Head" ringing in the back of my mind. I'd say it's slightly better than Parachute's Losing Sleep if anyone wants a comparison, though the hooks on Losing Sleep are far more "fun", for lack of a better word. It's probably not too presumptuous to say that We Shot the Moon's new release will sound a bit like this...

Not yet, but maybe soon. Retail was only a few days ago, despite the early leak.
I hate to shit on other people's writing, but come on dude. Write in paragraphs. Have an introduction. Huge block of text = not appealing to read.

There are paragraphs.
I've been too lazy to put 5 spaces after every paragraph since stupid tabbing doesn't work.
From now on I will.
To make you happy.

Yeah, lazy - because pressing one button is so hard to do ;-)
You won't be making me happy, as I won't be reading it, but eh.

Oh well.
Doesn't matter to me.
Always good to get advice from people.
Moving my finger to the spacebar is much harder than it looks.

In that case, let me give you some more advice. Your reviews come off more vague and useless than a drunk friend trying to describe a popular action movie. Let me show you an example of what you're doing:
"This album is great. The opening song is "The King of Carrot Flowers pt. 1" and it's great. It starts off with guitar and then the vocals come in and it's great. The next song has a great chorus. The first single is "Holland, 1945". The choruses are different but the verses are great. This album is great. It gets a rating of great."
Your reviews offer nothing worthwhile to your readers. Remember, you're not supposed to be describing the album; you're supposed to be reviewing it. Don't tell me a chorus is great but tell me why a chorus is great. Connect the music to something outside of the album, whether it be another band's work, a feeling it invokes in you, or whatever.
