I'm in the process of of recording some songs I wrote, just for fun. I have a lil 8 track digital recorder, but need some info on what to do about recording drums. I don't have a drumset, so im looking for drum programs or whatever to make my own beats with.....The first song I recorded I used the Tabit program and tabbed out the drum track and played it back in my recorder. For what it was, i guess I would say it was decent, but I want it to sound a little better than that. Any ideas or programs I can use. And it's for Windows, unfortunately, i i don't have MAC.

Thanks.

You could try Battery 3, Ezdrummer, Superior Drummer, or Addictive Drums.

Acoustica Beatcraft is pretty good. I played some of my music to someone once and they asked how I got my drums sounding so realistic, so can't be bad at all.

BFD is the best I've heard. And Windows is fine, you don't have to have a mac to make music.

Do you own that? I just had a look at it and there are about a million options for buying it.

Seems cool that the sounds are based on actual pieces of kit rather than just a generic sound, and that you can use different dynamics rather than just change the volume.

No, I don't own it, but one of my friends does... He uses it for this: http://myspace.com/waysof

Sounds pretty decent, I'm going to see if I can find a trial.

Reason also has decent drums, and it comes with so much more (synths and effects) that it is well worth it.

By the way, does your current program (Tabit?) have an option for you to choose your own sound files? If so you may want to just drop $40 on a drum sample disc from Beta Monkey (http://www.betamonkeymusic.com/) rather than spend $150-400 on one of these other programs.

Thanks for all the help. I'm still checking them all out too see what the best is..............I don't think tabit has that option. I will look though, cause that would be really nice.

Check out Ezdrummer, and if you have an electric drum set that you can use as midi triggers, you can get some really nice sounds out of the samples.
