Seriously, there is no reason to have a sports thread for one team. If you want to talk baseball, do it in the mlb thread. If something comes up about one team that is a temporary subject, that is ok (example, i started a thread two days ago about the met's opening day lineup, but it has already died out). It is stupid to have a thread devoted to a team throughout an entire season.

I never spent a lot of time in downtown Wilmington, but when I was there, I enjoyed it. We usually stuck to 202 and the rich 'burbs.

there are a lot of people here who talk baseball and arent sox fans. theres stuff always about the mets, yankees, cardinals giants, phillies ....that would all get pushed aside because there would be page after page about the red sox, mostly during games.

on what grounds caleb? they arent unnecessary ...theres a lot of sox fans here. we started the thread last night around 8 o clock, an hour into the game, and we already have over 150+ replies. that will continue too.

every day there are multiple threads that, depending on that individuals tastes, seem pointless. i mentioned examples earlier w/ anna benson, a barry bonds billboard, scoop jackson ..how are these any more relevant to this forum than one about the red sox??

If this goes away, there will just be a bunch of other threads about the Sox, taking up even more space. But if thats the way people want to do it then i guess that's how we'll do it.

you say that, but than you'll probably refuse to acknowledge that any of the 4 pages in the Red Sox thread is completely useless. it's a catch-22. and nobody's "stifling anybodys freedom of discussion". there's an outlet for discussion of any topic in any thread. i just think Red Sox, Cubs, Yankees, Brewers, Devil Rays, and all teams alike should belong in the MLB thread, unless there's interesting news in any orginization that merits its own thread. i don't mind so much the Anna Benson or Barry Bonds threads, because they're both clogging the news bulletins right now, and two or three or even 10 threads about that shit is a lot better than a potentially endless amount of threads dedicated to teams that don't always have something important to talk about. but everybody here has a team, and enough motivation to start and maintain a thread regardless of its importance. all your doing is opening up an outlet for everybody to start something up when there are sports threads at the top that are scarce in posts in the first place.
