Not sure if this has been done before, if so just link me and I'll delete this one.
I'll name some details about a band and see if anyone can guess it (no wikipedia!).
Their career lasted 8 years, spanning from 1964 to 1972 (they have also staged a reunion and have been touring since 2003).
Signed to the record label, Elektra, they released their debut album in January, 1969. This album was seen as controversial because of the title track starting with the line "Kick out the jams, motherfuckers!"
They released two more albums before their breakup in 1972.
This should be quite easy to guess who it is, anyone who wants to contribute make your own Who Am I?

Who is MC5?
You cheated, and they are a very good band.
How do you know they cheated?
Hell, I just saw 'Kick out the jams...' part of your post and knew instantly who it was.

Because they asked "Who is MC5?".
Well I figured they were replying like you would on Jeopardy, in the form of a question.

Maybe,.

I didn't cheat. A friend once made me a mix with Kick Out The Jams on it.

Bingo.

Same here. Lately, he's been getting guff in the music forum for being overrated (which only happened after one member said he was and now, the parrots just repeat what he says) but his sense of melody is superb.
