i doubt ur comment about it being the 3rd best console is remotely close to the truth, as ive read in several instances that ps3 will in fact be the best system by leaps and bounds, but i will never be caught dead paying that much for a fuckin game system. im gettin older, the time to play games grows shorter by the minute

Give me links and I'll believe you. Every single site I have read said there will be no major hardware differences between the PS3 and Xbox 360. Sure, the games may be better on the PS3, but that won't make the console "leaps and bounds" better.

Haha, they're probably purposely leaking a ridiculous price on purpose so people are like "that's crazy! I'd never pay that!" Then they'll come out with the actual price of like $500 and people will go "hmm...that's very reasonable. I'll take 4, please."
haha, so true;

yea buddy the 360 so far is doing nearly everything well. It's graphics are said to be by PS3 developers themselves very comparable and in some cases better than PS3. It has several great games out right now and many very good ones. It has the best online gaming service ever seen, by far. It has a great controller and some very cool, some never before seen features. The Rev is gonna be real sick because of just innovative gameplay and some always great first-party titles. What does the PS3 have? Blu-Ray, which may fail and even if it dosen't isn't too exciting for many people right now because a) the vast majority of people still don't have HDTVs, and b) it has not been proven that DVDs are not acceptable storage mediums. And after the failure of UMD i don't have much faith in a new Sony format.

There may be some hope for lower price points in America. The European market generally gets screwed in consumer electronics (http://gear.ign.com/articles/700/700258p1.html#), like the $299 iPod selling in Europe for 299…euros. That's a huge difference. Will we see the PS3 launch in the States at $499?
I won't even touch some of the statements in this thread, they are far too ignorant and stupid to even bother trying to start a reasonable argument for.

(By the way, Canadian's also get screwed with price differences)

It looks like the PS3 is going to be hit-or-miss in the end, even if the price is only $500, which is still intense. (That's how much I think it will cost.) No way is it going to be what that site is saying. They know it won't sell nearly as well as 360 or even the Revolution if it's that much money.

Not really. Look at the sales in Japan. Miserable. It's selling worse than the original Xbox. Not only that, but the PS2 continues to outsell it weekly.

Also, there's no way that one can say "regardless of launch," because the launch is one of the key facets to getting to system. People who preordered it last year still don't have it. Many people who would have bought it when all the initial hype was around have decided to wait for the PS3/Revolution, because if they can wait this long already, it can't kill them to wait even longer.

The 360 has not had any solid games aside from Call of Duty and Oblivion, and most games are just ports that are actually better on current-gen systems.

They're relaunching in Japan and are going to have over 80 titles released there before the end of the year.

Every system has a bad launch with shitty games. The only difference with the 360 was the shortage, which builded up hype, which I assume has not subsided in the least.

I guarantee that everyone who has preordered theirs has it now. It's started to show up in stores to just buy. Granted it's 5 months after launch, but your statement was pretty much wrong.

In your horrible opinion. I have about 7 360 games are they're all awesome, not to mention the Xbox Arcade games.. The only games that are ports that are better on the current gen are the sports games. Everything else that has been ported or released side by side has been released with extras/better graphics/achievements/extended online features.

It's useless to argue with you either way because you're the biggest N fanboy on here, and it pisses me off to no end.

i went into the 360 not expecting much and it has been one of my favorite systems in recent memory. ive heard a lot of similar things from people, not everyone but i good portion of people ive talked to that have one or have played one enough to make a judgement. the online is implemented perfectly, the achievements are great idea, and i have really enjoyed all of the games and gotten a lot out of them, achievements add a lot of replay for me, i actually like getting the score up and try to do things i might normally skip out on.

I'm a huge fan of the 360 and am not a fanboy at all. I think that the 360 is a fantastic system and if I had the money, I'd probably buy one myself. But to say that there have been no problems with it is preposterous.

A shortage is a huge deal in a launch, as people get turned off by the console. At first it led to hype but delay after delay after delay killed it. Who still talks about the 360? I see more commercials for the original Xbox than the 360.

No, my statement is not wrong about the preorder because I know someone who still hasn't gotten his.

While there are many games that are good on the system, there are only two must-haves that I can think of, which I listed. The Live Arcade is a great feature, I agree. But when, after launch, the game that everyone thinks is best is a game that is downloaded on the arcade, I find that to be a problem. I'm referring to Geometry Wars.

It's useless to argue, I agree. That's why we're discussing.

I didn't say there were no problems. I know there were problems.

Yes, everyone has forgotten about the 360, even if 8 out of 10 of the top games logged on Xbox Live (between the regular and Gold and Silver memberships) have been Xbox 360 games. (http://www.majornelson.com/2006/04/01/xbox-live-top-10-5/) for the past few weeks.

Your friend not getting his is ridiculous. The shortage being non-existant has been addressed by the MS PR team in the past few weeks. I'm too lazy to find the article, though.

Luckily, most people don't go by only the must haves must haves. What's a must have in your opinion? There are currently 3 games above a 90% average ranking on GameRankings.com. There are 8 above 85% and 16 above 80%. Within a 5 month span, I would say that's pretty good considering nowadays Nintendo is only releasing 1 game a month, if that, and Sony is releasing 3 to 5 at the most.

True, Geo Wars has been said as the best game, but this is only in a sense that it is a cheap game that is insanely fun and addictive, or bang for your buck. As far as a full-fledged, fully price game, Oblivion, GRAW, Burnout Revenge, COD2, Battlefield: MC (next week), DOA4 among others are awesome. I don't know what else you want from a console 5 months into launch.

Unfortunately, I am off of work and am going to do stuff. Peace.

I like RPG's and sports basically. I could only go out of those realms only if I could play you and others online. I'm horrible at fight night and I guarantee I couldnt get good at it. I remember I got the last one for PS2 and I was dancing around the ring like an idiot.

mmm thats a challenge I could take on. it takes me about 4.5 seconds to learn a sports game. I didnt buy madden this year but my friend has it for gamecube and I went over to his house and blew him out by three touchdowns. then we rented nba live and I beat him by 50 points. I got so desperate for madden this year that I downloaded it for my PC and play with the keyboard and still blow out opponents and rush for 2000 yards a season.

The majority of people that will buy the PS3 won't even know what the fuck "blu-ray" is, unless it really does break out which I don't think it will. But even with blu-ray technology, it will sure as fuck not make the console "leaps and bounds" better than the 360.

let's face it... Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are not going anywhere. Japan will eat the Revolution up, so you can rule that out. PS3 and Xbox 360 will continue to be eaten up by college kids, and as far as I go I have a 32 inch Sony TV so I couldnt give a fuck less about HD or Blu-ray technology. Give me games.
