darling can't you see that i'm nothing more than cardboard?
left out by the road, easily recyclable

yet i'm thrown into the dumpster, a tumor of cancerous qualities
holding breath to keep on breathing, ignoring to keep on teasing

a blade and knife that don't cut, a cut above the rest
a killing spree of letters and apologies not granted

we all long for something to throw our arms around
but what if embrace leads to selfish needs and it's totally erased?

muscles made of metal, skin made out of clouds
winds blow harder yet the orange leaves never leave the ground
