The new Dashboard Confessional (http://www.absolutepunk.net/dashboardconfessional) album is actually coming out (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=127124) on Vagrant.

Woaaaah. This is wild. I, too, thought DC was too big for Vagrant. Go Vagrant!

Are they signed to the major (Interscope?) that owns part of Vagrant? A differenr major? What's the story here?

exactly, it's esentially coming out on interscope, it's funded by interscope, marketed by them, everything. they just keep the vagrant on there for "indie cred" more than anything. Interscope owns 51% of vagrant i think? That's why it wasn't a big deal when their album debuted at #1 because it's like vagrant is an imprint of interscope, as opposed to when TBS's WYWTB debuted @ #3 and rocked everyone because a real independent record did that well.

they are still on vagrant from what i gather, but everyone probably expected him to jump to a major after a mark, a mission's success.

Yeah I heard more or less that Dashboard stays on Vagrant but gets next to anything they want.

I saw them last night and they rocked. I can't say it was the best Dashboard show I've ever seen but it was definitely a good time.

Vagrant's gonna get so much more popularity from this release. Same goes for Saves The Day's new disc.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I can never remember if Interscope owns 51% or 49% though.

vagrant deserves it.

They are such a great label.

Although I did hate them when Hey Mercedes broke up because they didn't help them out much.

vagrant probably has my favorite lineup of bands

with a close second a three way tie between - fueled by ramen, victory, and tooth and nail

im almost certain they own 49%, and is the reason why you can still call vagrant 'indie' because the majority of the label is still independantly owned.

but i might be making that up.

vagrant is amazing, period. and victory, regardless of the few good bands on the label, still sucks.

too bad interscope owns vagrant and has had 100% control over dashboard since just after 'places you have come to fear the most' came out... wish they'd just admit it.

actually you're wrong. no offense, but are you innocently misinformed or intentionally saying incorrect things? interscope doesn't own 51% of vagrant. not even close. and it was a big to everyone but you apparently that DC debut at #1. i like TBS but honestly hadnt been "rocked" when they debut at #3 because no one really discussed it and frankly didnt know.
