Start with Bottle Rocket.

Then do Rushmore, which is his best. Then do Royal again. Then end with Zissou.

rushmore is definately the best.

imo, Rushmore > Royal > Zissou > Bottle Rocket

I watched that the other week, it was definately a good movie and very comparable to wes' work, but I think wes overall makes better movies

Yeah, I think I agree with that.

Actually, I think that Royal Tenenbaums was probably a better movie, but I just like Rushmore a lot better because of the setting/characters.

p.s. I just re-watched Rushmore a couple hours ago.

yeah Rushmore and Royal are very very close, and I usually swing back and forth depending on which movie ive seen the most recently

I also agree with you in that I think rushmore had better characters, while I found the story of Royal to be slightly better

Life Aquatic > everything.

Wes Anderson is easily my favourite director. Everyone else's films just seem lazy in comparison. I don't think I could ever put his films in order of how much I like them. I've tried, but it's just not possible.
The Squid And The Whale is excellent too. However, it wasn't as Wes Anderson influenced as I thought it would be. It was still near perfect though.

I dressed up as Richie Tenenbaum for Halloween once. Everyone kept asking me "what are you..a hobo"?.

Bottle Rocket = Rushmore = Royal Tennenbaums = Life Aquatic...

I can in no way rank these movies. They are all masterpieces.

Anderson's cinematographer did TSATW, hence the similarity.

Noah Baumbach wrote and directed the film.

He helped write Zissou.

That is probably the biggest similarity.

it was one of the comercials before v for vendetta. this might be different depending on the theatre though. i doubt they'd ever show this on tv because it's even longer than the m.night shamylan one.

I thought it was pretty mediocre when I first saw. Probably would have given it maybe a 6 out of 10. Then I saw it again and loved it. It gets way better each time you see it.

Its up to about an 8.5 to 9 now. Amazing film.

I want to watch Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore this weekend if I can.

Yeah, friend.

If you have only seen it once, you need to see it again. If I wasn't watching Return of the King tonight, I would probably do myself a favor and get my Wes Anderson on but I can't.

Thanks, yeah you too with Wes Anderson. And looking at your facebook, I'd say we have a ton more stuff with TV and music as well.

Nothing like good writing and directing.

Although great, it doesn't touch Rushmore or The Royal Tenenbaums.

The whole sequence with Needle in the Hay playing while Richie cuts his hair/attempts suicide is just brilliant.

Rushmore is so overrated. It's good but it's nowhere near as whimsical as The Life Aquatic, which is also far more complex as well. The Royal Tenenbaums is still his best but The Life Aquatic is right behind it.

drudo182
10/19/08, 07:45 AM
Yep. Rushmore is no Life Aquatic.
