Wasn't really sure which forum to put this in so i just went ahead and threw it in here, the politics forum.
I don't really care for Moore nowadays, but I just found out that he's got a new documentary coming out later this year about the financial crisis of 07-09 and the stimulus and bailout package and it sounds pretty cool. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I like what I've heard, but I don't have any of their albums. I'm pretty sure I'd dig them if I took the time to give one a spin, tho.

DO IT man. You wont regret it- i was in the same boat as you until I purchased, "Good News for Pepople Who Love Bad News" and "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank". I got David (Personist, Aborted, etc) hooked on them.

To "re-rail" this thread, I pose this question:
Who will he be interviewing in this movie? I think it would be great if he attacked big Pharmaceutical companies, and I'm not even a fan of his.

Maybe 2 of their weakest albums tbh. The Moon & Antarctica and The Lonesome Crowded West are definitely their best.

I was thinking about him doing a food documentary. Talking about Seed corporations patents, fast food, the meat industry's effect on global warming, corporations lobbying to get organic farming outlawed, the dangers of artificial sweetners and other food additives etc. But then I thought, he probably eats tons of fast food and processed food, he is a fat fuck.

There's all sorts of aweome articles, mostly social and political although sometimes regarding art. Sort of anti-comsumerist I guess you could say, very worth checking out!
I hate Michael Moore.
May I ask why? I mean, it seems like for every 100 conservative wackos on bully pulpits, the left in this country only has 1. I for one am glad he does what he does...even if he IS a bit propagandist in tone.

Michael Moore cannot be judged by Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine. Honestly, Sicko was him at his most calm and his most calculated and his most articulate moment. It really was a brilliant documentary.

I'm surprised Sicko hasn't been mentioned much in the media this past month amongst the debate.

He has only his propagandist tone in his previous efforts to blame for more people not taking Sicko seriously. But I agree, it deserves more attention than it's getting.

Michael Moore, movies are all terrible. Bowling with columbine wasnt that bad. I feel like he is trying to use mind control to control the public. Also how does he get money to make these movies, considering sicko grossed under 3 million in movie ticket sales. It is sad when more people seed I know who killed me then any other of his movies.

Sicko grossed over $24 million in the U.S., which might be low, but it was shown in less than 441 theaters (mostly art-house theater). It is considered the third highest grossing documentary. In addition, each of his films cost less than $10 million each, which is relatively cheap in the movie business nowadays.

This movie was ridiculous. He can't stay focused on anything. In one breath he's saying captialism is bad, in the next he's saying it's necessary. He can't find anyone to blame, so he blames and praises both sides and various industries. It's fun watching him shit on everyone and glancing back at the end to see where the shit stuck.
It made me think of the michael scott quote, "When i have 80 minutes to give a speech, I generally try 15 or so first lines. The first line is the most important". He rambled on for the first 30 minutes without telling you anything.
Nice to see him shit on chris dodd though.
His Q&A session afterwards made me a bit more dumb for having listened to him pontificate about revolt, and then having explain how he's not wrong for profiting off of this revolution.
How he can try to shift the blame from the borrowers to the government in this situation is mind boggling.

Been quite a big advocate of his films in general, this one was as interesting and informitive as his past few. I stumbled on Bowling for Columbine a few days ago too after not seeing it for a while and I must say I enjoyed it more than i remembered even though it's probably his most controversial as far as the facts go.

I love Michael Moore, I saw it when it first came out on DVD(dunno if it was in theaters) and I loved it. It sickened me at the same time as astounding me. The Wisconsin protests were perfect for him to do another movie like he said he would only do if we started to stand up/

Hmmm, I think Bowling for Columbine is his most widely accepted. It was when he was making an apparent stance politically (i.e. F911, Capitalism) was when he started to become a polarizing figure.
Don't get me wrong, it's apparent that Bowling did have a view he was trying to put forward, but it was a movie (along with Roger & Me) that was about the community and I find it harder being a against something like that - if that makes at all, any sense.
I did like Capitalism a lot. I am - bring it on - a critic of Ayn Rand philosophy. For Ayn Rand, immigrating to the U.S. during the 50's, saw the prosperity capitalism brought. So you can't really blame her for thinking capitalism (or down to its roots, egoism) was the best system to live under/by. But if Rand was around today, I think she would be a little critical of what is occurring today. That's why the beginning, when Moore talked about growing up in the 50's, capitalism seemed amazing. But very little people, I think, saw the negative effects that it can cause (with only time allowing it).

I definitely would not say it's his most widely accepted. I'm too lazy to research it right now but I remember him getting criticized pretty heavily for twisting the truth about Heston holding a NRA meeting right after the shooting and that when he went to interview heston at his home he was sinking pretty deep into senility and quite a few other things.
