Today I am joined by Adam Samiljan from Fueled By Ramen. Adam is perhaps the coolest guy in the world (and the person who allows me to set up awesome programs like the Punchline "Count to 37 (http://www.absolutepunk.net/punchline)" feature) and obviously Fueled By Ramen is an amazing force in the scene right now. Enjoy and have an awesome week!
Head Automatica (http://www.purevolume.com/headautomatica) - Anyone else think Popaganda is going to be pop album of the year? These songs are formulaic, simple, and predictable… and they rock. Lovin’ what I’ve heard… anticipating.
Beyond the Citadel (myspace.com/beyondthecitadel) - I don’t know all that much about heavier rock, so I’m wondering for those that do, what do you think of this band? They’ve got crazy energy and a wild wild sound.
Two Gallants (http://www.myspace.com/twogallants) – Look for a review soon. Really good indie with a southern drawl, telling the stories of an array of desperate characters. Harsh vocals with arousing melodies… kind of hard to describe, but check it out.
Anathallo (http://www.myspace.com/anathallo) – My man Gabe Gross got it right. Even if you end up not liking it, you’ll be thankful for having heard it. An enlightening sonic experience, an eccentric rainbow of beautiful sounds that you probably haven’t heard before, mixed with others that you have. All in all, pretty ravishing.
Adam's Recs:
Hey guys, it's Adam from Fueled By Ramen. I'm riding with Bayside for a
few days on their tour with Paramore and The Sleeping so chances are
most of these will have some connection with them. Here we go:
1) A Late Design (http://www.purevolume.com/alatedesign): these guys are opening up each night of this week's
tour. They're awesome guys from Queens, NY. Anthony from Bayside
produced their new EP and it's definitely worth checking out.
2) The Sleeping (http://www.purevolume.com/thesleeping): I got to hear some of their new CD the other day. It
rules. Look for a track from it to be posted soon. Until then, check out
their last one, Believe What We Tell You, on One Day Savior.
3) Rufus Wainwright (http://myspace.com/rufuswainwright): I've been obsessed with the songs "Oh What A World"
and "I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise" lately. So amazingly good. Go
download it now.
4) Arsis (http://www.purevolume.com/arsis): insanely intense and catchy metal. Two dudes. Tons of riffs.
Joe from FOB told me about these dudes and I've been hooked since. The
nearly 11-minute song on their new EP is ridic.
5) Punchline (http://www.purevolume.com/punchline): I'm so stoked for their new CD to come out on Tuesday. I
love going in to a music store and buying a copy of our CDs the day they
come out. Punchline is one of the most sincere and hardest working bands
I've ever met. They truly deserve every bit of success I hope this CD
brings their way.
