Moneen (http://www.moneen.com) - The Red Tree: This album is absolutely beautiful, raw, hard-hitting, all of the above. I haven't stopped listening to this album and it is, by far, my favorite album of 2006 so far. Be on the lookout for my review of this disc early next week. Also DEFINITELY pick this up on Tuesday.
Punchline (http://www.punchkids.com) - 37 Everywhere: Another solid pop-punk album being released in 2006, it may not be as instantly catchy as most pop punk albums, but it holds much more substance than most. I'll discuss this more tomorrow when I post my review of this album. Pick it up this Tuesday.
The Flaming Lips (http://www.flaminglips.com) - At War With The Mystics: This album is like a box of chocolates, with each song, you never what you'll get. Cheesy metaphors aside, this album is another very good release for 2006. If you like your rock and roll to be random, fun, intelligent, and abstract, then definitely check this out. In stores now.
Other recs:
School is almost out for us college kids, so I rec those with stressful finals, projects, presentations, etc., to eat healthy and get plenty of sleep so that you don't burn yourself out. Summer vacation is just a few weeks away!
4/11/06: So many good albums coming out this week, I recommend you buy at least one (preferably more though) of these albums:
Built to Spill - You in Reverse
Death Cab For Cutie - Direction [DVD]
Moneen - The Red Tree
Saves the Day - Sound the Alarm
Punchline - 37 Everywhere
Rookie of the Year - The Goodnight Moon
Hit the Lights - This is a Stick Up ... Don't Make It a Murder
Calexico - Garden Ruin
Josh Ritter - The Animal Years
Mono - You Are There
Pretty Girls Make Graves - Elan Vital
Birdmonster - No Midnight
My one movie rec: What About Bob? - Bill Murray is a comedic genious, this movie is so funny. Check it out.
Have a great second week of April!
