American Football - One of my favorite albums of all time... cannot recommend this highly enough... just... get it... here's a MP3 (http://www.epitonic.com/files/reg/songs/mp3/American_Football-Honestly.mp3) courtesy of epitonic.com.

Boys Like Girls (http://www.myspace.com/boyslikegirls) - I know I talk about this band a lot, but I've heard some demos for their new CD (which they're currently recording with Matt Squire) and I have a feeling that their album is gonna be the CD I wish AAR's Move Along was. I like Move Along and all, but that s/t floored me and I was let down w/the follow up... this may be just what I was looking for

The Consequence (http://www.myspace.com/theconsequence) - Yeah I've been pimpin em a lot lately, but "Break Out" and "Fairweather Friend" kick so much ass... such good pop songs. Yeah, your little sister will probably like em, but a good pop song is a good pop song and i can't turn one down

Oceans Firing (http://www.myspace.com/oceansfiring) - I rec'ed em last time, but how is this band not signed? Check it out if you like Terminal / the Tooth and Nail kinda sound. They've got a pretty sweet video on their MySpace page too

Hello Vegas (http://www.myspace.com/hellovegas) - Sweet indie pop songs from ex Student Rick singer Adam Reiter... new demos are sweeet.

Here are Shaant from Cute Is What We Aim For (http://www.purevolume.com/cuteiswhatweaimfor)'s recommendations:
=================================== ===========
Oasis (http://www.oasisnet.com) -(What's The Story?) Morning Glory...This is the second record I ever owned. It is one that I will never stop listening to. It's a record that brings you back to when you were that 10 yr old kid rocking out to the stereo in your families living room just enjoying every moment of the music. I think back on what imagery they painted for me and how a lot of it has stayed the same for me. I can't get the image of me walking home from elementary school with a shitty portable CD player in hand. The kind that would skip with every stride. The kind that had to be held in a certain way just so i could sing along... out of my head. This record cannot be touched.

Cursive (http://www.cursivearmy.com) -The Ugly Organ... Every song on this record gives me the chills. I do not spin it as much as a should but I think by allowing a decent amount of time in between spins it def. allows me to appreciate how incredible it is. Tim's lyrics are of the award winning variety. More people should listen to this record and really take the time to eat up his every word, the wide range of instruments and brilliant arrangements... oh and of course... His vocal dynamic is insane. I love it.

Kanye West - Late Registration... Some may label him arrogant and cocky but he sure can weave a web of intricate rhymes. I really dig this record because some of his lines just leave me floored. He uses a phrasing that i can only dream of understanding. Also, the production on this record is really fresh, although I am not too familiar with rap. I just like how he spices things up with the transitions that coincide with his lyrics and the throw-back samples.

American Football? dude, you rule! that's one of the most under-appreciated albums out there, especially on this site.

i've been on a late-90's emo kick lately as well, so i also recommend American Football, and anything by Penfold or The Morai (if you like Mineral, definately check them out).

haha i was listening to that download of the The Consequence song, something "....on the Floor" maybe and my parents were sitting there, and we i think we all came to the realization at the same time like, "huh... this song is about sex... and a little graphic, as songs go..." and it got awkward.

i like the band though ;)

Rohan, your Oceans Firing rec is dead on. They sound a lot like Terminal... which is great now that Terminal is no more. Anyone have an idea who Oceans Firing will sign too? I know T&N was trying to get them a while ago, but the deal fell through, and Oceans took them off their links page and their top 8.

Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory is probably one of the most musically defining albums for my person tastes. That disc just taught me so much about myself despite being so young when it was released. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that Shaant and I agree right there.

Oh and Late Registration is probably the only rap album I will ever own.

Hey, aim for some recommendations that not everybody on the planet already knows about. At least fucking humor me and throw in this year's TREOS or Westcott. Frank>Rohan>That guy from that mediocre band.
