Anyone here a fan? Their new stuff has actually been really impressing me. They seem like nice guys and sound pretty good in this video: The Used - PureVolume Sessions (https://www.purevolume.com/theused/videos/78785/Empty+With+You). What do you guys think?

First off, search function. Second, I like The Used's early work, I'm not feeling the direction they took on their last two records.

The new record is awesome. I like all their material, and the new one really threw me off at first, but after listening to it for a month I think it's pretty damn good. Seriously for anyone that heard it once or twice and neglected it, I'd say to check it out again with open ears (and maybe some weed in your system lol) and give it another shot. I'm glad I did.

The only downside is that I wish it was longer. All the songs blend into each other nicely, which makes it seem to end quicker

Radio-friendly? Their last 2 records were more "radio friendly" than this one. There are only 2 or 3 songs I could imagine hearing on the radio from the new album, and even so the radio has never really had The Used on rotation.

People were complaining that the band went too "poppy", so they pulled a 180 and they still get shitted on by loads of people expecting another self-titled lol. It's really not that bad of a record, but whatever I can't change peoples opinions

i've liked all of their previous efforts. i've never been one to want another self-titled "lol".
if by pulling a 180, you mean taking apart everything that made them unique and them in the first place, then yes they pulled a 180 straight out of their ass.

By 180, I meant sounding less over-produced and having a "dirtier" feel to the songs (for a lack of words), which I think they pulled off. And what made them unique to me was Bert's melodies and songwriting...Believe me, this record was not what I was expecting at all, but for whatever reason I like it. You don't, and that's fine. My initial point was just that it grew on me a lot over a bunch of listens

I still actually like these guys a lot for whatever reason i just can't hate on them. Granted they have not topped their debut album. In love and death was mediocre and Lies was just plain awful. Artwork however is actually a really strong release and hopefully will gain them some lost respect.

i've liked all there albums...LFTL was kinda weak, but it was still a decent record...i always like to hear bands experiment...You win some, You lose some...thats the way life is...who knows...maybe the next album will top em all...you never know

Used to love the Used, but with each album the quality of music goes down.

However, Bert, Quinn, Jeph, and Dan are all hilarious.

word. I'm not saying Artwork is the album of the year or anything, honestly I've been sleepin on a bunch of music this year. I've mainly been listening to hip hop and I've kinda been lazy when it comes to checking out more shit, so I bet there's a lot of tight new albums out that I don't know about...but I'm always open to recommendations

and uhh if I had to pick favorites, lyrically "Meant To Die" is something I can relate to a bit. "Blood on my hands" and "Empty with you" are catchy little anthems. "Come undone", "Sold my soul", "Born to quit" and "On the cross" all bang in the headphones too, especially when you're smacked. It's hard to pick just one
