The girls were just looking for attention, and i figured this from the start..why would a bunch of rich white kids throw away their lives by raping a stripper? thats what hookers are for.
sucks they lost their coach and got their season suspended over what is turning out to be a made up story by some hoes looking for attention.

I'm just saying, I didn't read the article but I heard about some of the initial accusations, and there had to have been something real in all of it. And by no DNA match that means everyone's off free, and that's just not fair.

go to the article, read it, and read some of the articles off to the side. they have time stamped photos of the strippers and they look like they wear beaten before they even came to the house. youre an ignorant fuck.

When I coach abandons a team before anything is proven or disproven, it's a pretty good sign that he might think that the people he was coaching were capable of doing such a thing.

Nope, not a thing. I saw the initial thing about it, and that the coach quit. Nothing from the other side. Came in here with no knowledge, as is being proven.

Absolutely not. 5 of the kids on this team, including the kid who wrote that email, went to the boys equivalent of my school. These kids come from upper middle class families who paid 100 grand for their kids to go to high school. They have everything in their lives handed to them on a silver platter..they have absolutely no reason to ruin their already planned out multi-million dollar lives over something like this. Trust me, I know that school inside and out. Although a lot of the kids can be complete DOUCHES (as seen by this email), they don't have the incentive or the balls to do something like this.

I don't know, but as you said, everything is handed to them. Maybe they thought they could do that and nothing would happen to them? Apparently, they didn't do it, but that's why I figured, and how you can understand why people might not believe them.

sadly...
I wonder why Duke didn't take the stance of innoncence...aren't they a fucking law college? I mean, all the President would have to say is this...becuase I was thinking about it earlier today.
"As a presitigious law college, we teach our students the notion of "innocent until proven guilty," and in turn, they should expect that of us..."
He can go on to condemn the partying, but that doesn't suspend your entire season, maybe a game or two.
finish it up with a nice:
"If any players on the team are found guilty of this crime, they will be removed from the team, the college, and any academic achievement (credits for any courses) will be nullified."
The fact that they didn't take a hard stance at innocence makes me wonder still
I'm just saying, I didn't read the article but I heard about some of the initial accusations, and there had to have been something real in all of it. And by no DNA match that means everyone's off free, and that's just not fair.
Are you joking? They've basically been found innocent, the media fucked this one up by overpressing it early

That's the only part that bothers me...the college and the coach didn't take a hard stance for innocence, they went for the immediate PR cover-up style of firing people/ending the season.
They were a national title contender, who made a small mistake of getting caught partying...now that this allegation may be entirely false, they just ruined their entire season for a minor infraction that on most campuses won't even get you more than a warning (drinking)

haha, and their accusor is this woman:
"In June 2002, police records show, she stole the taxi of a man to whom she was giving a lap dance at a Durham strip club. The records say she led a sheriff's deputy on a winding chase at speeds of up to 70 mph, and tried to run him down as he approached the cab on foot.
The woman, a divorced mother of two, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of larceny, speeding to elude arrest, assault on a government official and driving while impaired. She was sentenced to three consecutive weekends in jail and two years' probation."
No DNA, time-stamped pictures, a criminal past for the accusor....that's reasonable doubt to me.
What's worse is that even the Duke player's were removed from consideration for ACC Awards...which might have included player of the year even...

This could end up being one of those things that will forever be unsolved. Not even the slightest fingerprint is conncected to any Duke players. Some say it's because of the racial tension in Durham, if she did it just to make white people seem "bad", then that's ridiculous.

Well, if it was the Duke from a few years back, this wouldn't be as big of an issue, but they wer gonna win it this year...at least from what I have seen.
That's what really sucks in all of this...

hahaha that was one of the most asinine posts i've seen in a long time.
a woman alleging sexual misconduct doesn't mean there "has to be something real in it".
if a lack of DNA and time-stamped photos get them "off free", i'd say that's quite fair.
it's a little thing called the burden of proof, check it out sometime.

well, the district attorney basically said this case was going to be proven right originally...even if he didn't have DNA evidence. It did seem like the team was targeted immediately...which sucks.
I mean, I immediately condemned the team too, but it was because the coach/school never denied the allegations...this is really going to end up being a logistic mess for Duke, because the players are gonna be pissed when they aren't even charged, yet gave up their entire season and any chance at post-season awards.

because wealthy schools don't like scandals.
unfortunately, allegations of misconduct might as well equal being found guilty.
someone has to pay for this, and in this case it was the coach.

Authorities ordered 46 of the 47 players on Duke's lacrosse team to submit DNA samples to investigators. Because the woman said her attackers were white, the team's sole black player was not tested.
Hahaha at so many levels.
I haven't followed this story at all, but they did have a party with alcohol and strippers at it during the season? I would bet they violated some university/athletic policies with this party. Those policies are in place to reduce the liklihood of something like this happening. It sucks a lot that the players got their season cancelled over these allegations, but when you are an athlete for the school you have to be willing to be held to a higher standard than the rest of the students in terms of conduct. Something like this is the risk you take when you violate the rules.
Again, it sucks that this happened, but the players should have known better.

barrelispointed, you are a god damn retard. you admit to knowing next to nothing about the story, yet you continue to comment on it. will it kill you to read a few articles? christ.
and to kram, yeah, they shouldve had a few games suspended or something, but losing their coach, season, and consideration for any awards is a pretty high price to pay for having some strippers at a party.

well, two players were indicted today...though the names weren't released since the indictments were sealed.
Here's where you can see DUke is distancing themselves from the situation:
"We are aware that the district attorney made a presentation to the grand jury today, but we have no knowledge about the contents of his presentation," said John F. Burness, senior vice president for public affairs and government relations."

the girl identified two of the players "100 percent" based on pictures, and "90 percent" on a third player.

a) this girl has any credibility left.

b) they still plan on moving ahead with no dna match.

here's the article I read on this:
http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news;_ylt=AhS9lFl1PTtU0Q_2Bn3MIL45n YcB?slug=ap-dukelacrosse&prov=ap&type=lgns
This probably answers your second part:
"Nifong has said 75 percent to 80 percent of rape prosecutions lack DNA evidence. According to court records, a medical examination of the woman found injuries consistent with rape."
Makes you wonder how much they even take DNA evidence into consideration in these cases...if, and this may be a stretch, good medical science isn't enough to provide reasonable doubt, how low is the line that makes up burden of proof to these juries.
As for the first part, well, she shouldn't. That's what makes me so cynical that they can legitimately continue this case. The defendants have no DNA match and time-stamped photographs which I assume show she was beaten before she got there. Moreover, their accusor has quite the interesting arrest record, so at the moment what looks like a he-said/she-said case shouldn't be resting on the words of a fairly unstable woman for an indictment.
Clearly, there is something big here that they aren't releasing, or, the prosecutor needs to win his election that comes up in a few weeks, one of the two

I don't know. the legal counsel on espn a week or so ago was on PTI and said that the prosection was talking way too much and that will hurt the case and stuff. And that he found it weird that they just didn't go about their business and investigate before publicly trying these guys.
I see this playing out like the kobe case where the girl is found to be a complete nutjob and not a credible source.

Bingo! but for how long was Kobe a terrible person and a rapist....if they get even half that time frame here, and I believe the DA is up for re-election, it will give him that highlight case for re-election. It's bullshit, but I really believe this is the only reason it's being pushed...in a highly polarized racial area, a white on black crime.
