The following is a mini interview of generic questions that we posed to all bands that wanted to answer:

Playing Favourites - (Dom) [myspace (http://www.myspace.com/playingfavouritesband)]

1. How did you get your band name?
We are huge Starting Line fans, and for people that don't know, Playing Favorites (the american spelling) was one of their acoustic songs. I think they contributed it to punk goes acoustic (the first one). We all loved that song at the time, and still do. So we decided to name our band after it.

2. How did this band get started?
We were in two separate bands, but all went to school together and were best friends. The bands were both really different as well. We had one metal/rock band and a pop/rock band. Anyway, the metal band broke up and Dom started writing these songs. Before we knew it we had the whole line up filled, and were off and running!

3. What bands are you influenced by?
This is such a vague question! There are so many bands. Bands that we grew up listening to, like Blink-182, The Starting Line, Rufio, Anti-Flag etc. Alex (guitarist) is a huge metal fan, and loves anything heavy with a beatdown, so we get our heavy side from him. Other than that we all actually love a lot of dance music, pop music. Just stuff that get's played in clubs and things like that. It's mainly because dance music is so uplifting, and really positive which we think the 'scene' lacks. Having said that, there are a few new bands we are all into as well, like Kids in Glass Houses, Tonight is Goodbye etc.

4. If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would it be and why?
Blink-182, because they're such a legendary band. We've all been massive blink fans for years, and they were probably the reason we play music too. Other than that, Metallica, because Alex would have an orgasm meeting James Hetfield, and some of our friends bands, cos it would be cool to have our best mates there to share the experience!

5. If you were a furry, what animal would you be? Why that animal?
A dog, because you could live inside, have a nice owner (hopefully), and get treated well. Being a dog with a good owner must feel like royalty. You get waited on all the time!

6. Why should people listen to your band?
This question always comes up and it's difficult to answer. We aren't doing anything particularly new, but we write solid, catchy songs, and we love what we do. It sounds so cliche to say all this, but we are just guys in a band, making music we like. I always check out a band that ads me on myspace. I listen for a bit, then decide whether its good or not. A lot of people 'can't be bothered' to check out new bands, which sucks.

7. If you were chosen to be in Guitar Hero/Rock Band, what song would you want in the game? How hard do you think it would be to five-star on expert?
'There are Rivals.' There is a pretty insane solo at the end of that song, so that would be quite difficult to play. I reckon it would take time to five star that song!

8. If you won a Grammy, who would you thank?
AP.net! and then our families, friends etc. The big standard acceptance speech really.

9. If you could change something about the music industry, what would it be?
Illegal music downloading. It's simply killing the industry. Other than that, I'd like to see more people bothered about their local music scene. We've travelled pretty far to play a show, and it's a bit disheartening if it's badly promoted and there are like 20 people there. We still play our hearts out, but it just seems like people don't care as much as the bands.

10. Memorable tour experience?
We played a show in Weymouth (South Coast of England) and after the show, we went down t the beach, with fuckloads of beer! I remember waking up in the car the next day still drenched, and sticking of booze.

11. What does AP.net mean to you?
It's a very good website. For me, there isn't really a website that covers as much news as AP.net does. I log on everyday, and I always learn something new. It is generally first onto news in the 'scene' we all support.

12. What is your favorite song to play?
I love playing one of our songs called 'Mandy' becuase it's a lot of fun to jump around to. So is 'Even If,' but I think 'Mandy' edges it.

13. What is your vacation spot of choice?
Mexico. I love it there!

14. What music reminds you of your childhood?
Blink-182, New Found Glory, The Starting Line are the big three for me.

15. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?
Ability to teleport anywhere, at any time. Imagine that! Could snap some pretty decent n00dz with that superpower! haha! 'Ashlee Simpson in shower!' haha!

16. Do you feel that your band has "made it"?
Not at all. We're quite a small band. We have been offered a record deal, but it seems like we are turning it down. Obviously we want to 'make it' but only to the point where we can play to a big crowd, put out a record (regardless of how well it does) and maintain our dignity.

17. What is something that most fans don't know about you?
Alex can't handle his liquor! If anyone wants to get him drunk and hook up, a pint of beer could probably do it!

18. What's your favorite holiday?
Mexico (already answered!)
editor comment: The term used in the UK for vacation is "holiday"

19. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Just chill out with friends and girlfriends. We like to party a lot too! Other than that: Xbox, music. The normal really.

20. What kind of hidden talents do you have?
Alex can lick his elbow! No jokes, he actually can!

LOL at the n00dz comment and if that guy can really lick his elbows then I'm impressed.
