^Three bad attempts at being witty and elite.
But yeah, it's one of the very few songs that almost brings me to tears every time. It mellows down and grows louder in all of the right places. Phenomenal.

It is a sad some in some respects, but it does have an underlying sort of hopefulness/optimism.
Just wait until you're actually 23 and the lyrics apply perfectly to your life. Maybe you've already experienced that.

Not the album by Blonde Redhead?
Yeah, "23" was one of the first songs I heard by them, and after checking em out, it's still one of the prettiest songs I've heard. :)

one of my favorite JEW songs, probably the main reason why Futures is my favorite album by them

quite the sad song. its beautiful. Futures is an amazing album.
HOWEVER, the sadest song ever is Black by Pearl Jam
Great song, but I wouldn't say it's the saddest I've ever heard.
Not the album by Blonde Redhead?
That's what I was hoping. I love posting the album art to it because it is one of my favorites to look at, haha.

It just doesn't seem important enough a topic to make a thread for.

A music topic that someone cares about is not important for a thread on a music website? How odd

I Don't Love You by My Chemical Romance is pretty sad and handsome pretty as well. :')

And I love how Night Drive in itself already makes a pretty damn good album closer, but it actually just sets the album up for an absolutely mindblowing (and heart-wrenching) closer.
But like others have said, the song also has slight optimistic undertones, it's not all sad.

Everytime I listen to it and he's like "I'll be twenty-three" i realise how close that is for me, i'm 21 next month and super depressed about it already... when I'm 23 it's gonna really hit home.
Awesome song.... I wish I knew exactly what it was about though.

It's just one of those little things that adds to the song, actually being 23. Kinda like in Something Corporate's "She Paints Me Blue" when he starts to sing "Atlanta started raining on me", I'm just like damn, that was really my life.
