View Full Version : Wanna Be A Mod?

Ok, so with the expansion of the forums into these separate genre forums, we need more moderators here at AbsolutePunk.net. This is how it's gonna work: we have 9 new forums (Punk, Emo, Rock, Alternative, Acoustic, Pop, Electronic/Dance, Hardcore, and General Music), so we need 9 new mods. To apply, give a brief few sentences on why you want to be a mod and why do you want to be a mod of this specific genre forum (if you like hardcore, apply for hardcore, not pop). We want mods who won't be dicks for no reason and will contribute positivity and good discussion in their specific forum, as well as the other forums. I will be taking "applications" until next Tuesday (4/18). Then, the AP.net staff will vote and select the 9 new mods. So good luck!

This thread is to specifically apply to be the General Music Forum moderator. Please post your applications here.

FAQs:
1. You will only have mod power for your specific forum. We are not looking for any new General Forum mods.
2. You can apply for more than one forum to moderate, but you will only get one of the forums to mod.
3. Please do not PM me your applications, please post them in the application thread in the forum you want to moderate.

Thanks, hope this clears up any confusion.

I would like to apply for the moderator position of the general music fourm. I have been a member here for going on three years, am on all the time, and feel i am knowledgable enough in numerous types of music to be able to contribute positively to the thread in addition to moderating. I love Ap.net and would love nothing more than to be more a part of it. I have loved my three years here and am hopeful for the future.

my policy for moderating would not be to make anyone mad but inspire thoughtful music discussions. and since i like pretty much every band even the ones that arent cool it should not be a problem avoiding any personal bias getting in the way

I've been around for more than a couple years. I'm pretty sick of the general forum so I plan to spend most of my time in the general music forum. I have a VERY broad taste in music so I think I fit that the forum quite well. I've never really been a dick to anyone here. I give everyone the same amount of respect even if I know they don't respect me.

Reasons for the general music forum:

I'm not very interested in the other genre's. And the threads that are already in the forum are diverse, a definite plus

I have been a mod at a few forums before (currently at The Sith Uprising, a Starwars role playing site [http://s12.invisionfree.com/The_Sith....php?act=idx]) (http://s12.invisionfree.com/The_Sith_Uprising_RP/index.php?act=idx%5D%29), but they have all been much smaller than this and I would like to take a step up (and into the music realm).

I have read the posting rules and guidelines page so I know what is allowed and what isn't. I know what is decent behavior and what isn't.

I know basic HTML (I don't think a mod needs that though) and have lots experiance in forums, I even started one a while back.

I can be on all the time (except holidays ;)).

I would love being a mod for the General Music forum because I have a huge interest in music in general. My tastes range really drastically and I'm always suggesting (or taking suggestions about) new artists to listen to.

I haven't been a member of AP for very long, but I have been active since I've joined; usually posting in at least a few threads per night.

I love to discuss music. I also have my own personal policy about not being a flat-out asshole to people or bringing personal matters into arguments. I think that music forums should be just that; a place for people to have (at least somewhat) respectful discussions about all different types of music. I know what lines not to cross.

Overall, I am just really interested in moderating a forum full of people who are inspired by all music in the same way that I am.

I would love to be a moderator in the general music forum. I feel my knowledge of music and my good judgment make me a great fit for this position. I have been a member for the ap community for years now and to take this step would be a dream come true. Also something you should note is that I am always online. Id love to help in any way possible.

i'd like to be a mod in the general music forum because i fancy myself a pretty eclectic guy when it comes to music taste. i'd apply in one of the other forums, but i feel like there are other people who would fit the position much better for each genre. this forum, however, seems pretty all-encompassing, which is something i can get behind. plus some of the threads that have already been created seem pretty interesting. i wouldn't be an asshole to people in this forum, and i'd allow for free discussion of all types of music. i look forward to hearing your final decision. good luck with the selection process, and godspeed!

I'm Chris Banker.

I visit AbsolutePunk on a daily basis, and make the usual rounds, as well as the sports forum, and would like to become apart of the moderating staff.

I have an intelligent background in many genres and styles of music, and while I may not be the most knowledgable about every single one, I do not hold any biases against anyone regarding their musical tastes or favorites artists, we're all here to share our thoughts, whether we agree or disagree, it's important to respect one's opinion.

I've held a moderating/reporter position at The Flyers Hive (http://www.theflyershive.com/portal) for nearly two and a half years, and have been a regular, contributing, law-abiding member of the Double Minor Hockey Network (http://www.doubleminor.net) since the beginning, which dates back about four-five years. I've also been a part of many staffs that have come and gone in the foruming community. While these are all sporting-related sites, it's the reason that I haven't been presented with an opportunity like this, and I feel that I'm still qualified and trained with enough experience to do the right job here at AbsolutePunk.

While I'm not afraid to state my opinion but once again, I do NOT hold biases against anyone or their favorite teams, and I'm very open to other people's beliefs and comments.

Thanks for the consideration.

I think the moderator should obviously be someone who frequents this forum a lot but that has also been around here long enough to know most of the members that frequent this forum. The person should be for the most part respected by everyone as well. Good luck to all those that apply.

I would like to be a mod for this forum. I would be good because I am completely unbiased towards people. I do not judge people for their taste in music, nor do I bash anyone on this forum or any forum for that matter. I feel that mutual respect is a necessity on forums, and it is lacking. I am online 90% of the day reading this forum anyway, so It would be good for me to put my time to some use (and I have a lot of it). I don't feel that anyone here is a "snob." There are some elitists, which I do not partake in nor agree with or support in any fashion, but unless they break a forum rule, I'm not going to jump in and stir things up.

I've been around here for awhile and I know how things work on this forum and in the industry. I know I would be a valuable asset to this website.

Woah dudes! I would like to become Ap.net next moderator! This is a wonderful place to learn about new bands and artists, so I would like to give back for all that I've learned. Anyways, why would I like to become the next moderator of the general music forum? Because I generally like music! Haha, but all jokes aside, besides there being other musical forums (punk, emo, hardcore) there isn't a place for fans of ska and other types of music to post their interests. So, in being moderator of the general music forum, I would help fans of all other types of music (ska, opera, reggaeton, jazz, classical) come together!

I want to be a mod here because i listen to pretty much any type of music, when people ask me what kind of music i like, i say "anything thats good". Id be fair, i wouldnt just delete threads because i didnt like what they said or the person who made them, unless someone was just spamming and pissing people off for attention/to raise their post count. im on AP anywhere from 1 to 2 hours a day, sometimes more, im usually on in the mornings during computer class and in the evenings. Also, i would make a sticky thread that had links to downloadable or streamable songs and update it every week, and make sure to include all kinds of music and try to get people into some bands/artists they dont know.

I want to be a mod of the general music forum because I am not competely obsessed with one genre of music. I like to pick and choose bands I enjoy from almost all regions. Although, I must say I'm not really into hardcore, but I don't mind some of the "harder" bands that are out there. I have been a member of AP for over a year now and have been a visitor for about 2 years and in that time I have seen AP go through some ups and downs but it always seem to stay as something good. I think I would like to take on the task of helping AP maintain its status and make sure things are done the right way on the forums. And if I were a mod I would regulate the stuff that doesn't belong and promote the threads and discussions that are meaningful and can be helpful to people looking for new music, as well as those who just want discuss music in general.

There should seriously be a mod for the lyrics and trash talk Drew. Totally off topic, but just getting my two cents in.
