A new study shows that 72% of new cell phones sold in the United States (http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/19/npd-finds-featurephones-account-for-72-of-new-handset-sales-in/) are smartphones.
Do you own a smartphone (ex. iPhone, Blackberry, etc. Anything marketed as a "smartphone" counts)?
This poll is in conjunction with this week's Technology Round-up (http://bit.ly/APtech082409).

i have a blackberry, but i'd rather not even have a cell phone. i wouldn't if my parents didn't pay my bills, just because they want a way to keep in touch with me.
one day i will live with nothing but a home phone.

Not sure if a Sidekick counts as a smartphone. It does everything a crackberry does anyway.

As a dork without a laptop (I like building my own computers), I find that smartphones are essential to my sanity ;-)
However, I will say that I sometimes wish that we lived in a simpler time where we didn't have to always be connected. Only sometimes though!

I'm such a tech-dependent person that always needs to be up on things. My Blackberry, at times, is a complete necessity.

own an iphone and I love it. Went from a free with signup account razr to iphone and really the difference is night and day.
And I'm one of those few who actually make phone calls on my smart phone and don't just txt through every conversation or post on facebook and twitter. (own a facebook, log in twice a month to view friend's pictures who refuse to post them anywhere else. Do Not own a twitter account and never will)

Yes, but it's the worst idea I ever had. It's expensive as hell (in Canada at least) and you get addicted to these things.

That's so true! I had a minor freak out this morning when I couldn't find my iPhone. It's actually kind of scary to be so reliant on a device I didn't even have 14 months ago.

My phone has a stopwatch and a flashlight, it's pretty smart.
I have a T-Mobile G1. It is the greatest device I've ever held in my hands. I love Google Android.
