its all part of the domino effect bush has in store for the environment.

first $500 million cut in funding in the wake of 9/11. We were all too busy buying flags to stick on our cars to notice that one.

By the time he's out of office I wouldn't be surprised if there was a fucking drop of oil in the world that wasn't being tapped by US companies.

Actually- only half are American that are in Alaska

Chevron/Texaco, Exxon Mobile, Phillips

The rest are not American

BP (British) Slumberja (spelled very wrong-- French), Shell (Dutch)

And- might I note, that most of the larger oil companies are not American- or have been bought out by European companies.

Theres not enough oil there to worry about, so i'm against the drilling, although it there was a large oil reserve there i'd be for it, we need to start getting as much of our oil as we can from our own land, and stop supporting the middle eastern countries.

that would be the only reason that i would be for drilling in alaska, to become less dependent on the middle east, although, that is never going to happen

we still only get about 30% of our oil from the middle east, we aren't as dependent as people think....

where did you get that statistic? all i have to say is that we are dependent enough on the middle east for oil that we are currently at war for it

I sorta regret saying this, cause i dont have a link to back it up, but..

Im pretty sure we drill for a lot of oil already, but sell it to the japanese cause they will pay the most for it. Then we buy from middle East cause its cheaper.

also notice that we only import 54% of our oil needs, so 46% is domestic...

I wont disagree with ya, but there is more drilling in the USA that could be done, ie gulf of mexico, and off the california coast.

We also sell a large portion of our wood to japan, which is one of the reasons its so expensive to us here in the states.
