I enjoy them. Even though one of their songs makes me cry everytime. The name escapes me at the moment, however.

That's the mitchell brothers with mike skinner. The mitchell brothers is a band on his label. They're pretty enjoyable as well.

It will probably come tommorow morning as I bought it off the net and not straight away from an actual shop.

I always knew you were an emo kid Jamie. ;) And yes it is probably "Dry Your Eyes"

Doesn't matter, I got it off of Soulseek last night. I like it so far.

Awesome, I can't wait till it comes. Is it more Original Pirate Material-ish or A Grand-ish? Or neither?
I'd lean more toward Original Pirate Material.

I hope so. :)

Noooo...I meant which does it sound more like. But yeah, Original Pirate material is 10 times better. Nothing against A Grand..., it's just that Original Pirate Material is sooo good. I could listen to the that piano in "Has It Come To This?" all day. It's just mezmerizing.

I got my copy of the new album today. It's pretty good. "Two Nations" is fucking class. As is the last track.

the new album has more natural flow to it than the other 2. it's more accessible, but i'm not sure if i like it more.

Interesting. I don't really agree with a lot of that though, I reckon A Grand... is ten times more accesable, it seems to be a lot more mature musically though. He seems to have progressed a lot. I still reckon Original Pirate Material is the best of his work yet.

That's what I meant in the way the album sounds. It reminds me more of Original Pirate Material.

I really need to listen to that CD more. I got really into A Grand...and I didn't listen to it as much

Hahaha noooo. The first is 10 times better. One of the best british debuts ever. Seriously.
I love the new album, but it seems to be getting mixed reviews--Besides Pitchforks review, which gives an average score, every review I have read has either been about the album being horrible, or being great.

:viking:ULTRA-BUMP!
Was listening to Everything Is Borrowed today, and looking him up, I found out he released a whole album on Twitter. Downloaded it, production's not amazing, but with Skinner it doesn't really matter.
Good songs though, I recommend it to anyone who's been waiting for new material.

Original Pirate Material is still The Streets' best album. I love "Has It Come To This?" and "Weak Become Heroes."
It was cool of him to release those songs via Twitter back then.

Bump.
The Streets are now officially over (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=2526902). Played their last ever gig last night in the UK.
Let's use this thread to post videos, live performances, favourite tracks etc. I know I'll miss them, particularly because of the debut.
Mike Skinner has started a new project with Rob Harvey (ex-vocalist of The Music who also sang a lot on Computers and Blues) called The Dot (http://www.the-dot.net/).
This first live performance with The Heritage Orchestra and choir genuinely gives me goosebumps. One of my favourite tracks from them too:

First two albums are fantastic, but the quality dropped off pretty quickly after that.

"Weak Become Heroes" will always be a classic. Third album wasn't quite as good, but this is one of its highlight:

Honestly I've never even made it through that, the idea of Skinner being all happy just doesn't appeal to me as much as him talking about getting wasted with his retarded friends.
