Thriller may be the best-selling album worldwide, but I would say the Beatles were better.

Bigger and better are two very different things, first of all. Second of all, Michael Jackson was a completely different type of artist than The Beatles were.

not sure how MJ can be considered better then the Beatles. The Beatles played their own instruments and sang...MJ danced and sang. Its not really comparable

I think the better part is subjective. I also don't know if it's completely fair to boil it down to "michael sang and danced." He broke barriers (culturally and racially), and has served as the inspiration for millions of artists to come since him. I don't really like this poll because it's a double barrel question - who's bigger and who's better are different. It's hard to say either way, but I chose Michael because I thought he made better music. It was a tough call, and much respect to both choices though.

Michael wrote a majority of his own songs, which in some cases were a lot more musically challenging than Beatles songs. Yeah, he didn't play the instruments he wrote said parts for, but he still knew what he was doing.

right, but regardless i dont think this is a fair poll because of how different these 2 artists were in what they were doing. The Beatles were a start to rock and roll where MJ was an influence to many pop artists...its not really comparable

Alright I'll admit that what I said about them was a bit rash and I didn't really look into before saying it and I apologize for it. That being said I still think The Beatles are bigger and better, all polls are opinion based and that's just my opinion on the subject.

I have no idea how I spelled their name wrong, it must have shown up that it was spelled wrong on my computer so I automatically spell corrected it. I'm not just one of those kids that pretends to like famous oldies bands but really don't know anything about them.

I wasn't saying you were being rash, and you have no reason to apologize, but your opinion is wrong. There's fact showing you're wrong. Michael Jackson had been around so much longer, and had tons more success worldwide.

My opinion is wrong? I wasn't aware such a phenomenon was possible considering it's just an opinion and the very definition of an opinion is (according to Webster) is a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter. So you really can't tell anyone their opinion is wrong because really it's just how they perceive things. Plus there is more to the poll then just who was bigger, even if MJ was bigger I still think The Beatles were better and thus they get my vote.

Ok, defining "opinion" doesn't make you seem smart at all. The "better" part of "bigger and better" isn't under attack here. We both know that. You are describing the Beatles as being around longer, and as having more worldwide fame, an opinion that I wouldn't normally offset, but I feel I have to, because I can offset it with fact!

The Beatles have been around longer though, fact. Michael was 4 or 5 when the first Beatles album was released and they are still listened to today.
Their career isn't as long, but their music is still listened to a great deal, see Beatles Rock Band

Also they have sold more records than MJ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_music_artists)
I don't see how it can be disputed that the Beatles were bigger.

What kind of 'being around longer' are we talking here? Michael Jackson made music for a longer amount of time, we both know that.

One of the best/most difficult polls I've seen in a while. It's really hard for me to decide on this one. I think I"m going to have to go with Beatles simply because I've been listening to them since I was a real little kid and they've had a huge influence on my appreciation of music.

Who is bigger? Duh, Michael all the way. Who was bigger? I'd say they were about evenly matched at the height of their popularity, with Michael's peak lasting slightly longer than the Beatles. Better is a completely different topic that I don't want to get into.

Both were the kings of pop during their time, and went on to influence hordes of other pop musicians/artists. It's perfectly logical to compare them.
