Is emo more than music or is it becoming a quasi-lifestyle for some?

Calling the lifestyle I presume you're talking about "emo" is wrong.
Emo means emotional hardcore punk. It is a type of music.
People that dress a certain way might do so to fit a current "scene", and they could be called "scenesters" but they are not emo. A person cannot be a musical genre.

Anyways, the emo scene is such a rarity nowadays that you probably wouldn't notice a distinct difference between a regular man walking down the street and a dude from an emo band.

I'm not talking about emo being wrong, I actually like emo. But yeah, I knew what scenesters were, but I lacked the term. Now I'm educated.

Jason, I have a question. What if people in the emo "Scene", actually any "scene" for that matter, developed (the fans, people who were in the bands) a typical look to them. They dressed a certain way, and all lived a certain way. Would that have been considered a life style? (edit:\\ I'm not calling "emo" a life style either. I'm just asking if someone did certain actions... ) I'm curious to this.
And no, I'm not talking about the music that people wrongly call emo.

real emo is not a lfestyle. there is a huge difference between emo as a slang term for people and as a musical genre. most people feel they are the same, which is wrong and is a pet peeve of mine

Kids in this particular scene don't dress or live a certain way. Most emo bands don't have a "defining look".

Even if that's true, there are a lot of posers who try to mimick an emo look. Even if a kid doesn't dress like what they have been told by other "emo kids," doesn't mean he is not emotional or into emotional rock, or whatever emo is.
However, I feel like im spitting out rhetoric.

The problem is that there's not even an emo look.
