I'm interested in the Camden one.

It's a possibility.

I wish Andrew just did his own tour, rather than playing larger venues.

seeing andrew mcmahon and the mannequins play in a smaller more intimate setting would be a lot better than merriweather, but hey, ill take what i can get.

This is disgusting.
JM finally goes on another widescale tour and they tour with a band that most of their (initial) fanbase loathes....

And no, I've never listened to them.

TylerDurden911
04/11/06, 09:01 PM
Ok, I just just went over to PV to hear a sample of what this OAR band is about... What a load of crap! I don't really enjoy agreeing with everyone here, but that's some shitty stuff! I'm now officially happy JM isn't coming here with THAT tour, instead giving me hope for a potential canadian tour on which the headliner wouldn't suck...

They're kind of a jam band.

It's pretty lame to see people on here complaining about Jack's going on tour with OAR just becuase they're not fans of the headliner. This is a huge tour and will surely make lots of new fans for the band. It's purely selfish to not want Andrew to tour with OAR because people dislike their "stereotypical" fan base.

04/11/06, 11:34 PM
some of you are being WAY childish about this. and it's pretty fucking sad. something corporate and o.a.r. toured together a few years ago. andrew became close with o.a.r. and they've stayed in touch ever since. this was a COLLECTIVE idea for a tour, remember jacks mannequin had to SUBMIT for this tour, it was their idea to hop on it. o.a.r. is looked at as a 'college frat jam band' when actually their new album is the exact opposite. stop being close minded and support this tour. tix are 23.50, if you don't want to go, don't bitch. plain and simple.

JM could be playing with John Tesh and Yanni and I would pay to see them. I really dont like OAR's music at all. I remember being so pissed at how long of a set they got during the SoCo, OAR, 311 tour compared to SoCo's set...but I will stay out of respect for them since when I met them they were very nice guys.

I did laugh however when a guy at the concert stoned out of his mind said that "this OAR stuff's pretty good, its like a cross between Sister Hazel and Lucky Boys Confusion".

chcougar1
04/12/06, 01:30 AM
umm tickets might be 23.50 where you are but thats before huge charges...so probably around $30...it will be $35 here.....but i dont care Andrew is the man...as long as he plays 8 songs +

PAlacrosse
04/12/06, 02:58 AM
ok so i think its agreed, we all stay for andrew then bail on the OAR tools

00spool
04/12/06, 02:58 AM
hmmm. I submitted this as news last weekend, with a link to where you can get pre-sale tix but it never got posted.

anyway here's where to go for pre-sale tix: www.oartickets.musictoday.com/ the password is "revoluton". the site is down for "maintenance" right now so I can't check to see if there are any tix still available.

JM is amazing and transcends "scenes" and genres so it's not surprising that he would like his fan base to transcend those limitations as well. This will be great for him.

besides OAR is very energetic.

Damn you and talking about this venue yesterday Evan. I hate this place. Grrrrrrrr. Someone else is buying me these tickets. Thats way too fucking expesive. Stupid fratboy extravaganza. I get enough of that with TMA. This is going to be worse. But oh well. I love Jacks. So Im going.

Teddy Gravyboot
04/12/06, 07:27 AM
WOOOWW!!! i just cant understand why everyone is hating on OAR. I'm guessing that everyone with the negative comments have only heard their newest CD.. or whatever they have on purevolume page, probably new songs.. but their new cd is pretty horrible, and this is coming from the biggest OAR fan you'll find on here, BUT before you dismiss them after only hearing "Love and Memories" (horrible song), go to their website www.ofarevolution.com (http://www.ofarevolution.com) and listen to songs like "Dareh Meyod", "About Mr. Brown", "City on Down", or "About an Hour Ago" and tell me that they have "no talent". Thats such a stupid thing to say coming from people who most likely don't know their entire body of work and don't know where theyre coming from with their music.

And I love and support Andrew and Jack's more than the next guy, but for fools to say that their "collective left nuts have more talent than OAR", just give their older stuff a listen, thats all im sayin. And maybe, just maybe you'll stay that extra little hour after Jack's finishes their set and witness a fkn incredible live show (seen oar 3x) rather than beating the traffic to come home and read the threads from other stooges about how unbearable their "fratty following" is to be around.. fuckin ridiculous.

xTJx
04/12/06, 07:29 AM
Yeah, that's fuckin' bullshit.

There's a huge gap when they get to the east coast...does the tour just stop or is JM just not supporting that?

you are my hero

the new cd is bad, but its got a couple enjoyable tracks. OAR by the way is not a band you can listen to on purevolume or myspace and immediately understand just how amazing they are. Do yourselves a favor and pick up a cd like 34th&8th and play it for awhile, and then go see them live. And everyone who whines about their fans just sounds like they were bullied or something while in high school/college. The crowd sure beats the shit out of fat 14 year olds, and angry emo boys who clear a pit and then kick and punch at thin air.
