This is a really good article. I keep meaning to give In Reverie a listen, but I never get around to it. Sound the Alarm is amazing and doesn't disappoint.

"We're just consistently doing our thing now. We have our little fan base, and we don't aspire to much else."
i couldn't be more proud to be part of it chris. :)

That was a terrific read....Saves The Day are one of my favorite bands of all time. I love that all he needs is his little fan base and a bit of cash to make some records and he'll be happy.

This was a great read.
Helluva lot better than many of the other boring repetitive interviews that keep prying Chris with the same questions.
Chris Conley is the fucking man, and Dont Know Why is singing my blues too
Sound the Alarm is such a great album and I respect them so much for paying for this album themselves and just putting all they have into it
Ive been listening to this band for 7 years now and contrary to how some saves the day elitists think, I'm actually glad that alot of younger kids today can still get into Saves the Day, it just shows that they are a timeless band that really connects with people, especially the youth, they really are one of a kind...

Wow. Awesome article. Sound the Alarm is a dismal materpiece. It tears me up inside when I listen to it, you can just hear the ghosts of Chris Conley's life screaming out all over the place.

ditto. It is a laced with great tracks and was filled with some great themes and imagery. Monkey is one of the best songs chris has ever wrote in my opinion. I just don't see why people hated it. It was Saves the Day expanding their creative horizon once again.

I think In Reverie is one of those albums that didn't receive much success at the time but once Saves The Day solidify their place in the annals of rock history, people will learn to appreciate it. And that appreciation will stem from exactly the things Chris said in this interview, even though In Reverie was a great album in and of itself.
Oh, and Sound The Alarm is awesome too, yesterday was such an awesome day for music in this scene.

That was a fantastic read, I was surprised. I think In Reverie is mostly hit or miss, but more hits than misses. I guess because it's not like old Saves the Day, the majority rejected it...but that wouldn't explain Stay What You Are's success then, since that didn't sound like anything the band had put out either.
People can say that Saves the Day went back to their old punk sound with Sound the Alarm, but I think it's newer, more aggressive, heavier, and a welcomed change in a band that's always evolving.
Personally, my favorite album track is the self-titled song, "Sound the Alarm." I love that fucking song.

I couldn't agree more. In Reverie is such a great album. I think people just need to give it more than one chance, or two, or three. Every one of their albums is so unique, that's what makes them such a good band. The article is a nice inside look to what's going on inside Chris' head.

Chris is amazing, without a doubt. This was definitely a great article, gave a lot of insight into this record and what is to come. Every Saves The Day cd has been amazing in my opinion.

first off sound the alarm is a greeat album.... second i think it sounds like a continuation of In Reverie(which is also great) with darker lyrics( same voice same music)...with that said nobody that put down in reverie sould have the right to like this album...i am also glad they keep moving forward in thier style and not backwards

i cant exactly agree with you on that. It's definitely a step back musically, from both in reverie and stay what you are.
I love In Reverie and still dont understand why "Anywhere with You" didn't catch on big in mainstream. I love that video and could have swore it would have been a major player on MTV. But it didnt and STD still continues on for themselves and their fans...not major label execs.
