someone extremely close to me was diagnosed with Leukemia yesterday :'(
she is only 20 years and i dont know how this could happen she is an amazing, nice girl
ok whats done is done - could someone tell me about leukemia a little; my main questions are how long does it normally take to take leukemia down and also while youre in treatment from the leukemia, is it normal to leave your house and have a somewhat normal life....

thanks guys/girls

p.s. please dont turn this thread into another joke or another thread to start fights with people, as you can see this is very serious....
thanks

I have a friend who went through a very similar thing. She was diagnosed in our second year of University. My uncle also has leukemia. The thing about Leukemia is that there are different types/severities of it. My friend unfortunately had to quit university to undergo treatments and for about a year was fairly bed-ridden. It's not an easy thing to go through because the treatments for Leukemia usually make the patient sick and weak. For some people, things like losing their hair can be disabillitating as well. Luckily my friend has embraced the cancer and the treatments and rocked the bald look for a while, it was awesome. I'm extremely proud of her. The best thing you can do is be supportive, find out exactly the kind of Leukemia your friend has and learn about it. Even taking the time to understand the sickness will show your friend how much you care for them. She has been doing treatments for the last four years but has been able to enjoy a somewhat regular life. I think her treatments will end pretty soon as well.

My uncle has lived with leukemia for 20 years or so. He leads a completely normal life and hasn't had any treatments for a long time. I hope your friend gets through this, it is definitely a hard time but a lot of good will come out of it. It will bring your friends closer together and help you to appreciate the life you have even more than before, and appreciate the friend you have!
