Morrissey (http://www.absolutepunk.net/morrissey) will debut at around #40 on this week's charts selling close to 27,487 copies of his new record here in the United States.
I believe he was #1 in the UK.

Morrissey. Oh Morrissey.
The first time I saw him, he was swinging on a rock on an episode of Beavis and Butthead. I can't remeber what they said about him, but I agree. That dude just doesn't do it for me. Neither does Panic! at the dick suck

I love Morrissey, but the Beavis and Butthead clip cracked me up.
As for ROTT being overrated, I don't know. I definitely like it better that Quarry. It doesn't have a weak track, except for At Last I Am Born, which had great music wasted by a lazy performance by Moz.

What the hell kind of country are we living in where an immortal rock god like Morrissey can be outsold by manic at the pharmacy?

i guess the myspace album exclusive didnt help out too much.
or it did, and if so, what would of been his numbers without it?

I don't know if he's ever been that big, or they even did much promo for the US release. Not sure though.

It's a country where kids are told what to buy and have the attention span of chipmunks with A.D.D. They like their music transitory. When ever I see this new crop of kids at shows I think that they're going to be the ones telling their kids how "punk" or "emo" or "scene" they used to be. They'll all be over it as soon as a new fad comes along. Music doesn't really mean anything to them.
Plus Morrissey wasn't being promoted by Pete Wentz.
And to insert my own opinion of the new record. I really like it. I thought Quarry was better on the first listen of Ringleaders, but the second time I listened to it I heard how good it is. Morrissey has yet to disappoint me.

I really like the new record. some of the songs are questionable, but that's just how all morrissey records are. I can't think of one that is flawless start to finish, with the exception of "Vauxhall & I".
anyone who said anything negative about morrissey can get food poisoning and shit blood for three days straight for all I care. you're all dead to me now.
I don't think any Morrisey record will ever be flawless (yes, even Vauxhall) but this is still a great release, I'm so glad it got to #1 and people have shut up about the Arctic fucking Monkeys for 5 minutes. Seriously, they are so stupidly overhyped here it's frightening. Next up on the hype-ometer? the new Snow Patrol record is getting massive airplay on Radio 1...and it's like Final Straw part 2 not a bad thing but not a particularly good thing either...
