What was the best game you ever went to? (in any sport)

Baseball: Mine would have to be when I went to the Mets/Yankee game and Dae Sung Koo came in to pitch for the Mets. He struck out the side in the inning he pitched, the they wanted him to go an extra inning without wasting another pitcher so even though he was a reliever, he batted against Randy Johnson. I never forget, on the second pitch he cracked one to the deepest part of Shea Stadium and it hit the wall for a double. Everyone went nuts. Then, on a Jose Reyes sacrafice bunt, Koo went to third and when the Posada was out of position after he made the play he was sent home (Randy Johnson didn't cover hmome). Koo ran so fast and he did a head first dive to beat Posada to the plate and he scored. It was so crazy, the stadium was going nuts. I never saw anything so bizarre.

Hockey: Rangers raped the Penguins 7-1 this year in January, that's about it. Shots on goal- Rangers: 55, Penguins: 13..yeah..pretty much a blowout. All of the other games I've been to the Rangers lost, so this was my favorite hahaha

Football: Giants vs. Bears about 7 years ago, Giants got killed (yikes) but Strahan had two sacks and one of them was for a saftey where he actually tackled the QB so hard his helmet came off.

Basketball: My favorite would be going to see the Nets play the Raptors last year because I had sick seats like 2 rows behind the Raptors bench. Nets won, Vince Carter had a sick 360 dunk and like 30 points, and all was good. I've been to alot of Nets games but this was the best all around game I've seen them play.

this one time, i went to a tigers game. and they lost.

Edit: but, no really, i went to a tigers game and saw Rondell White hit a walk off homerun 3 years ago. it was the same day as the NFL draft and my brother called me to tell me that the Lions had drafted Kevin Jones and Roy Williams and i was fucking pumped. then 3 innings later, walk off homerun and the entire crowd of like 8 people (probably 15,000 or so.. but it looks like 8 people when it's a 40,000 seat stadium) was walking to the gates high five-ing everyone they didn't know and chanting lets go tigers. it was cool shit. I don't attend many pro sporting events 1.) i'm broke. and 2.) i'd rather watch them on tv where i can yell loudly and turn off the tv when they fuck up. like half of detroit's teams always do.

Baseball - I saw Clemens pitch as a Red Sox in 1990 @ Fenway, 3-0 shut out.
I also saw game 4 of 2002 NLCS (Cubs-Marlins)
I also saw game 5 of 2002 WS (Yankees - Marlins) The game that Wells cost the Yankees
I've seen some other Phillies walk-offs.

Hockey - Flyers-Senators 4-3 Flyers win december this year.
Football - The game McNabb broke his leg and then threw 4 touchdowns, FSU-Virginia 2 years ago. (first ever game @ Doak Campbell)
Basketball - I've been at a few games where Iverson has put up 50+...Watching J.R. Smith of the Hornets outscore my high school team 48-47 (they won 99-47) and him practically throwing an alley-oop to himself over a player.

Soccer-There's been tons of brilliant Reading matches I've been to, like against Derby when we beat them 5-0 and we won the championship then. And against Sheffield United where it was first VS second at the time and we scored right at the end to win it and go top. When we beat Millwall 5-0 that was pretty class as well.

I have a bunch of great sports memories but three football games stick out in my mind.

#3: This past year Giants-Broncos. Eli leads the team for 2 game winning drives, and throws the final touchdown with 2 seconds left while falling backwards. It was amazing and people were going absolutely nuts.

#2: Giants-Eagles: Last game of the year like .... 3 or 4 years ago. The Giants had to win to get in to the playoffs. Tiki Barber had 207 yards rushing but 3 fumbles. It went into overtime and David Akers who never missed at that time, missed a chip shot FG and the Giants went down and won the game. When David Akers missed the chip shot FG you could feel the stadium shaking.

#1: Giants-Eagles: Wild Card Playoffs 2000. The game opened up with Ron Dixon running the opening kickoff back for a TD and people were going nuts in the concourse (I have this superstition where I can't see the opening kickoff) Then Jason Sehorn made that crazy flipover knock it up in the air INT return for TD right in front of me (I sit in a corner section row 15). The game was over and we just destroyed Eagles fans all over. The energy in the stadium was electric.

For me it would have to be Game 2 of the World Series last year. I've been a lifelong White Sox fan and to even have a game played here was the greatest moment in my baseball watching career. Not to mention that I somehow scored 2 tickets through the general public sale (no scalpers or brokers...well, depends what you consider Ticketmaster). The weather was shit and I had a huge paper due the next day, but I went and got to witness Paul Konerko hit a Grand Slam, Bobby Jenks blow a save, and then the kicker to end all kickers: Scott Podsednik, the unlikeliest man in the game to hit a walk-off homerun, do exactly that. I must say it was sweeeeeet!

Penn State vs. Ohio State last year at Happy Valley. Tamba Hali causes a fumble to secure the victory in the last minute. Incredible game.

Syracuse vs. VTech - McNabbs senior year. Threw up on the last drive, and did not choke as he hit the TE in the back of the endzone for the win as everyone stormed the field.

2003 ALDS - Game 3 - Sox vs A's. Manny calls Trots game winning HR to deep centerfield.

and Shaqs rookie season when he tore down the backboard at the meadowlands.

baseball: when i was in chicago i saw a white sox vs. tigers game like four years ago. i sat behind the right field wall and the two teams combined hit 12 homeruns and tied a major league record for most homeruns hit in a game. the sox won 17-6. then two years ago i saw a cubs//white sox game at wrigley. it was cool just because of the rivarly. i believe the cubs won 4-3.

hockey: i don't remember the scores because i was too young, but i've seen some hartford whalers games. i loved the whalers. i did go to a minor league hockey game once when i lived in florida and there were 14 fights and the ice was stained with blood afterwards, that was pretty fucking sweet.

and i've never been to a football or basketball game. just many baseball and hockey games.

hockey:

I'd have to say either when the leafs beat out the sens in overtime a few years back in the first round.

but.... now that i think about it

Canada vs. Findland... world cup finals.. Canada wins.

it would have been way better if the U.S had have been in the finals though

Toronto was fucking INSANE that night.

Football: Pats vs Dolphins in the 1997 Wild Card round ...pats won but lost to the steelers the next week.

Baseball: The infamous Sox vs Yankees game last season when Sheffield and the fan went at it.

Hockey: Capitals vs Sabres in the 98 Eastern Conference finals, Game 2. My brother lived in D.C at the time and was a huge Capitals fan so he flew me down to watch the game. Caps won in O.T and it was a hell of a game.

Baseball: Braves/Dodgers in Atlanta in 1998, maybe? It was the year Galarraga kept getting hit. So of course he got hit and charged the mound and a fight broke out and everything. It was awesome.

Football: Packers/Falcons in Atlanta 2 seasons ago. It was a pre-season game, so nothing really significant went down, but it was the first time I saw Favre play in real life, so it was pretty special.

my favorite hockey game i've ever been to was a few weeks ago when the avs beat the kings 5-0.

but overall, the best hockey game i've been to was game 6 of the 00-01 playoffs, detroit at l.a. deadmarsh scored to tie to the game in the third and then scored in overtime to upset the redwings. i have never seen that much energy in a single building in my entire life.

Football: I've seen a few nuts Browns games, including the helmet throw, scoring two TD's in under a minute to beat the Bears earlier this year, lost to Indy a few years back on a two minute drill that stalled at the goal line.

Baseball: Five words: Wily Mo Pena Bobblehead Night.

Reds are down 4 to the Devil Rays in the eighth where they score three runs to get down 9-8. Bottom of the ninth, a single, a walk, first and second no one out with Sean Casey up. 4-6-3 Double play, fuck my life, i hate the reds. so runner on third with two outs, down a run, with griffey up. he hits a perfect seeing-eye single into right field to score the run and tie it 9-9. Who comes up? Wily Mo Pena. Everyone in the fucking park got out their Wily Mo bobbleheads and held them up while he hit a walk off homerun into the upper deck in left field. Could not have been better. Reds win 11-9.

my favorite game ever was a game at Candlestick Park (Giants old stadium). It was on like July 3rd or something like that. Giants were down in the 9th inning when Barry Bonds comes to bat and hits a walk off homerun and that stadium went fucking nuts. Then after the game there was an amazing fireworks show.

oh man, I forgot about the Mets playoff game I went to a couple years ago when they made their WS run. It was against the Giants in the first round and it went into 13 or 14 innings and Benny Agbayani hit a walk-off HR. It was awesome.
As a sidenote which made the day even more awesome, there was a huge car fire in the parking lot. It was clearly visible from where I was sitting. About two innings after the car fire was put out by like 5 fire trucks there was an announcement made "If you are the owner of a car with license plate AAA123 please coem down to guest services." This prompted my dad and I to make all kinds of jokes about the announcment like " If you own this car, please come pick up your ashes." or "If you own this car, enjoy the rest of the game because you are taking the train home."
That was a great day.

That's actually funny..I went to a Mets/DBacks game last year and a car went up in flames in the parking lot too. During the game thick black smoke started to pour over the field then they made the announcement and afterwards we went out to the lot and saw the car fried. I guess Shea has a habit of setting cars in flames.

its tought, i have been to mostly islander and met games through the 90s so there havent been many good games. haha

best game: when the mets made the playoffs a couple of years ago, they had to play the cubs the last game of the season, i believe the two teams were tied so whoever won got the playoff spot. Bottom of the 9th winning run on third, two outs, the place was going nuts, the reliever threw a wild pitch and the runner came home giving the mets the wild card

most memorable sporting moment:
this one is for hockey fans, i went to the islanders playoff game when dale hunter checked pierre turgeon after he scored a goal to basically put away the capitals. If you have never heard about it, it was brutal, it was like a good three seconds after he scored. At the time it was the longest suspension in nhl history (21 games), I just saw that CBC sports (canadien broadcasting company?) ranked it the 7th on a list of most memorable hockey goonery. Turgeon injured his shoulder and was out for the next series (the isles upset the penguins in 7 games, but turgeon wasnt the same when he came back and they lost to montreal in the semis).
i looked for video of it but couldn't find it, my bad.

I've been to the last Pirates and Steelers games at Three Rivers Stadium.

I don't have any games that really stick out for basketball. I've been to a couple big games (when Pitt plays Uconn and Cuse) which were really fun.

For the NFL, the wildcard playoff game against the Browns a few years back (playing the Steelers, of course) was insane. What a fucking come back that was. Another game was just this past year against the Lions. It wasn't that great of a game, but it was Jerome Bettis' last home game, and the game that put us into the playoffs to roll onto a Super Bowl win. (I still can't believe it, geez) It was awesome, there were Jerome chants throughout the whole game.

I've been to so many great games... but my favorite of all-time has to be last year's Texas Tech vs. Kansas game. Kansas, I believe was ranked #2, and Tech was #24. A high-flying, 2OT game that was clinched with a last second buzzer beater. The arena just went nuts when Dora hit that shot. It was amazing... I'm so glad I got tickets for that game.

this:

2. Philadelphia Flyers 2, Pittsburgh Penguins 1 (East semifinals, Game 4, May 4, 2000, five OTs)
This one was a treat for insomniacs, who could have turned on the tube at midnight and still caught four or five periods of great hockey. The game started on May 4. It ended about seven hours later, at 2:35 a.m. on May 5. In between, the Pennsylvania rivals played 2 1/2 games -- 60 minutes of regular time and 87 minutes of overtime -- of riveting, often thrilling, hockey, with the Flyers Keith Primeau scoring the game winner to tie the series at two games apiece.
The third-longest game in NHL history left players on both teams exhausted, sometimes looking like they were moving in slow motion. Penguins right winger Alexei Kovalev, for example, said his regular moves just didn't work as the game went into the wee hours. "Every move you do is not going to work, because nobody reacts to your moves anymore."
Jaromir Jagr, who lost seven pounds after logging 59 minutes of ice time, said, "You don't even know you're playing hockey. That's the way it is. You're skating, [but] sometimes it doesn't look like you're skating. You don't even think."

Never mention that again. That hurts me.

And I forgot that I saw McGwire's 50th and 51st homeruns in Shea Stadium in his year of 70. Then a few days later I watched St. Louis play Pittsburgh, and he got the day off. Every time that John Mabry, the man that played first for him, came up to the plate, they booed him off the field. I felt bad for the guy.

Baseball: I went to tons of games before, but, Game 2 of the 2005 WS was amazing, Konerko's Grand Slam....was amazing, i never seen the place so alive after that, and Sco Po's walk off dinger...wow

Football: 1 game only, when me and dad drove to Green Bay last year to watch the Bears beat the Packers for a playoff spot, that was awesome.

Basketball: all those bulls games when jordan was there

My personal favorites-

Baseball: I've been to a couple of Mets/Yankees games which are a good time but my favorite was Mets/Braves years ago when tornados apperently touched down in NYC the game was delayed because of it and the Mets won in the 10th I think, off of a homerun by Edgardo Alfonzo.

Hockey: Rangers at Islanders, Rangers went down 4-1 early and won 5-4 on a Theo Fleury goal.

Football: Giants/Vikings championship game, Giants won big and the entire expirience was just amazing.
