Who out of these people is the best film-maker (so it can be a director or screenwriter)?
Charlie Kaufman
The Coen Brothers
David Fincher
Wes Anderson
Paul Thomas Anderson
FUCK QUENTIN TARANTINO and you all know tim burton's over-rated.
PTA for me no doubt.
You created your poll at exactly the same time as me I thought that was pretty funny. Go vote if you've seen the show.

actually, hell yes and yes probably is what you are looking for.
tarantino is a pretentious wanker, who fills his films with shit references and uninteresting dialogue, i can respect him so far as he is not a michael bay for instance and is atleast making something somewhat original. but he is an overrated hack who needs to get out of his own arsehole.
charlie kaufman is a genious and should win by a landslide.
coen brothers are overrated.
david fincher has some pretty good movies.
wes anderson is hipster BS.
PTA is pretty good.

Go watch any movie by either of them, and then understand that you're wrong. Bandwagon jumper.
The Coen Brothers are by far the best, not only because they're from my home state, but because of the whole "Good movies" thing too.

hahaha, do you understand what a bandwagon jumper is??
i'm not wrong. but it's fine, as you're only 17 and clearly haven't watched enough movies and probably think that samuel l jackson has loads of "cool" monologues in pulp fiction (god that film is dire)

Oh, my age totally affects my movie-watching skills, you're right. Bandwagon jumpers do something because everyone else does, and/or because it's cool. Now, I don't know where you're from, but where I'm from, it's cool to hate on those two. That's what you're doing. Bandwagon jumper.
Make a movie like "Nightmare Before Christmas" or "Reservoir Dogs," and then I'll take you seriously.

no your age just seems to be relative to your stupidity, you think coz it's cool to dislike burton and tarantino in whatever weird town you come from, i'm therefore doing it to be cool? well, you don't know me, so don't make stupid presumptions. i am obsessed with film and make my judgements purely on my own, not what's cool in your town.
nightmare before christmas, like all tim burton films, is camp and gothic (it's one of his best as he hadn't started dating johhny depp yet) and i'm getting extremely bored of it but my irritation with burton doesn't compare to my hatred for tarantino.
reservoir dogs is tarantino's best film but it's still a 6/10. the ending is truely awful and he fills the film with irritating pointless shots, a really easy ending, arrogant speeches and surprise, surprise he's cast himself in his movie and he can't act and gives himself a terrible monologue that he clearly thinks is fucking cool.
you can't have a go at me for doing something coz i think it's cool in the same breath as saying tarantino's awesome.

The Coen Brothers are the most pretentious pricks in Hollywood and their movie's are vastly over-rated and crude... every time I try to watch anything by them except the Big Lebowski I am reminded of how fucking pretentious these assholes are. And I can't believe you people all fall for it...
with that said, David Fincher is the most visionary of the bunch. His range truly shows the high caliber of his films and this guy deceivers a fucking Oscar already. Wes Anderson consistently entertains me with his movies, I love all of them. I wouldn't say he's the best of the bunch but probably the most enjoyable if you appreciate his wit. Charlie's the best writer of the bunch, but after watching Synecdoche, New York I am convinced that this guy can't do it on his own and must work with another director to illustrate his vision... but Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine are by far some of the best films of all time.

Yeah. Tarantino is good but isn't better than any of these dudes. Tarantino has made 3 movies that I actually enjoy. Inglorious Basterds is one of those.

Fincher and Kaufman. I can't separate them.
Your list lacks Christopher Nolan..
he's good but not great.
I think Memento is still his best movie.
oh and in regards to Tim Burton, he didn't direct Nightmare so i wouldn't use that for an argument.
he is incredibly overrated though.

Boooooo...
One time or another each one of these directors has been called over rated.
The only thing is Q.T. has arguably made two of the greatest movies of the past twenty years.
I think that at least warrants his name being on the poll list.

i'd disagree and say he's not made a single worthy movie ever.
also, to all those getting really annoyed with the whole "fuck tarantino" and "burton's overrated" comments, i apologise but i am an opinionated dick when it comes to film and tarantino annoys the shit out of me as does burton's repetitive style but don't get so worked up about it, it's just opinion (and those 2 directors just don't get close to any of the ones on the poll). But hey, they're not as bad as michael bay or the assholes behind the "movie" franchise (i.e. epic movie, date movie etc.)

I voted the Coen Brothers due to Burn After Reading and the anticipation of Serious Man.
Although, I would have voted Tarantino due to Inglorious Bastards being absolutely awesome. Hate on the dialogue all you want, but I'm always into the dialogue. It gives much more character to the cast and he actually makes the actors act by doing this.

The Coen Brothers - their work in the 80's and 90's is extremly good hit a rough patch in the 00's but caught their stride again with No country
PTA - Is a close 2nd
I'm not a big Burton fan either he ruined planet of the apes

can't believe it took all of you this long to say this, and the fact that you didn't, whether you were supporting him or hating on him, means that you're retarded.
QT is overrated, and in my opinion hasn't made a truly great movie yet. IG is entertaining, but won't last with most people. PF was great for 1/3 of it. all others suck.

Of those listed, FIncher is my favorite by far. Also, Tarantino and Burton are both great filmmakers. I'd take them over most of those listed.

Let us not forget, Tim Burton directed Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. He'd have a landslide victory cause of that movie!
burton just re-hashes his crappy imagination in every movie. he needs to do something different. big fish was kind of interesting, but lost its value after one viewing.

Every film maker mentioned is brilliant (including Tarantino and Burton.) I love all of Wes Anderson's movies, so he gets my vote. David Fincher is a close second.
Also, OP, in case you didn't know, you lose all respect by attacking someone's age. Especially when you're trying to support your "controversial" statement.
