Hi, My name is Winnie, and I'm the Senior Class President at Rosemead High School. We are currently in the process of trying to raise money for graduation and next year's associated student body, and I'm looking for bands who are willing to play at our school. We won't be able to pay them, but we WILL be able to provide them with 600-800 people who are interested in hearing them and all they've got. It's another way to build up their fan base here in Southern California. I don't know how to get the message out to everybody, but I really do want people to take interest. This is what I've been sending a lot of bands:

Hi there,
My name is Winnie, and I am the Senior Class President at Rosemead High School. We were wondering if (Your band here) would be interested in possibly playing for our school (Rosemead High in Rosemead, California). We are about 20 minutes from Los Angeles. I don't think we will be able to pay you, as we are trying to fundraise, but this is a great opportunity to play for 600-800 kids from this school to build a bigger fanbase in the southern California region, and another opportunity to sell merch and whatnot. We've had bands like Beverly (who are now signed to Maverick) and Suburban Legends (who belong to an independent record label). This is a great opportunity!

My name is Timmy , I don't have enough money but am having a big party in my dorm to send of everyone before summer and I thought it would be cool if any bands would like to play my loft for free? I go to school in the middle of bumfuck Iowa so its only about 20 hours from anywhere. This would be a good oppurtunity to sell merch and get your names out there to a bunch of drunk college kids as well. would have been nice if i could get a plug like that. i mean my school and city were devistated by hurricane katrina and now we have an all time low acceptance rate for next year, 15 classes cut, 10 tenure faculty fired, and a total of $1,000 to spend on a band for our spring concert so we are getting 2 locals and a band that sucks that goes to my school.

nope this is true. same here. it was boring as shit. i always thought i'd remember my graduation day cause its a milestone and all that crap... but i honestly thought it wasn't anything that special. now the after prom (cause i don't do proms) activities... i do recall quite well. that's graduation for me haha

Well, if your senior class president actually tried to recruit bands (plus ask the principal for permission, have all the sound equipment and setup, include delicate planning), maybe your school could've had a band at graduation.
I personally didn't have one, but it sounds like she's making a good effort, so stop hating.
