both have an average rating of 8.7 on IMDB (even though Inglorious Basterds is ranked higher in the top 250). which do you think is better?

hopefully the only people who vote are people who've seen both, but when does that ever happen?

Star Trek was my favorite movie of the summer...until District 9. It's beautiful.

District 9 is probably my 2nd favorite movie of the year.

Inglorious Basterds was awesome, but it probably won't crack my top 5. Too many great movies this year for me to rank IB super high on the list.

Yeah they're both in a dead heat on rottentomatoes.com (the rating website I like to check). IB has an 88% and D9 has an 89%. Both great films.

As of now I can't vote. To me they're evenly matched in greatness. It just depends on what type of movie I want to watch. If a (mostly) solemn realistic drama, District 9, if a slightly over the top drama with tons of laughs, Inglorious Basterds.

Inglorious Basterds. It just appealed to me more and I found it more enjoyable.

I thought both were great movies, but can you really compare them? Both are presented so differently, I voted D-9, but honestly, I like both pretty much the same.

You spelled it wrong, but Inglourious Basterds wins.

I'll just be honest. I haven't seen either but I'm voting District 9 based on how much I hyped it before its release and how much more appealing it is to me.

District 9, I'm not a fan of brad pitt's character, or his attempted accent.

pretty big statement considering most oscar contenders usually come out in the fall/winter (i think).

but i haven't seen it, so *shrugs*

What is this? No love for District 9? I feel like I should vote for it just because I feel like it's being underrated in this poll.

For some reason I really wanted to like District 9 more than IB when I went to see them but I think Inglourious Basterds takes the cake on this one.

ooooo! im impressed ap, not bad! I was all geared up for my "what the hell are you kids talking about...district 9 was the most overrated movie i've seen in ages...fuck brand new" rant. But Im glad to see that we're all in agreement at least that Inglorious Bastards was FAR superior to the run of the mill sci-fi alien movie, which was district 9.

Loved District 9 way more then IB. Mostly due to the fact that it wasnt what I was expecting at all but it completely was better then I thought it would be.

And IB was a pretty big let down to me personally, I really wasn't into the whole "chapter" thing it had going on, and although the french girl in it was extremely beautiful, I was expecting a much bigger war movie, instead it was all about other stuff.

these are two VERY different movies and I loved them both. But I had to go with District 9 simply because of the originality.

Star Trek was still my favorite. But District 9 was the best movie I had seen this summer since Star Trek. Fucking great movie.

I think that District 9 was a lot more meaningful and I got a lot more out of that movie, but I enjoyed Inglourious Basterds a lot, lot more. IB for me, though I'll admit that it could've used more character developement for the basterds themselves and a better climax.

Thank god, I thought I was the only one who didn't like it. It's not bad by any means, really well done movie, I was just bored most of the time.
