Hey, I just started college a couple days ago and I am about 1,000 miles from home. I am having fun, but the last few days i have felt really homesick. I was just wondering for those who went kind of far from home how long they were homesick and how long until they adjusted to college life?

I wasn't homesick per say, but it did take me a while to adjust. As in probably a year. Just stick with it, meet new people, and if you are having enough fun you'll forget all about home.

This. Also, sleeping around helps out a lot.

This. but seriously. i've been really homesick too but just meeting people and trying to enjoy your time at college will help ease the transition. it takes time.

i would say after a semester, you'll start to grow out of it. I enjoy college so much now that I can't imagine going home

AMAZING icon. mission hill is really the greatest show ever.
and yea...college is pretty nuts. its definitely weird, but being at school and then being at home evens out. its like, when i'm at school for too long, i want to go home, and when i'm at home too long, i want to go to school. its a vicious cycle my friend.

College felt like summer camp to me for the first couple weeks. I felt homesick for a little while, but once I got into the class/nap/study/party routine, it went away.
Oh, and cherish the fuck out of it. I'm living in a college town after having graduated, and I miss it every waking minute.

I didn't have to leave home for school but being in the military takes me from home a lot, it was hard at first when I was in basic training, but then I just thought to myself "I am an adult now, and I can't live at home with my parents forever" and I got used to it, after a while I started to see that I liked living on my own terms, not having to listen to anyone but myself, I would never want to move back home, I don't really miss it anymore, I only like about 45 minutes from it now, so I can go see family when I want to.
