there are a lot of conservatives on here... but there are only a few even worth responding to.

It had gotten progressively more conservative since I got here. However, I kind of doubt that most of the conservatives here are "punks", by the common definition. I sure am not one.

i personally see punk as a style of music, not as a political movement.

absolutley, it started off as a political movement, but as punk has gotten more mainstream, it has lost that edge

I think it start off as more of a rebellious movement then a political one, but thats just my opinion.

And i think it lost its edge, when the ideas that bands promoted just became more and more ridiculous and ultra left wing, you can only say something so absurd for so long before people just start ignoring you.

I find it hard to separate the two. Punk has allways had some sort of politiclas message attached to it, wheater it be anti-capitalism, anti-facism, anti-war, anti-racism, or in support of these things (The Ramones were huge capitalists, and all of them execpt for joey voted republican.) Granted there were always a few bands that didn't sing about their politics (screeching weasle, the adicts.) But overall It's alway had a message attached to it.

yeah...punk as a subcultural movement has long passed.

i dont think any of us are traditional "punks" in that sense.

But the ideals are still there...and you dont have to listen to a certain type of music to fit the frame of mind. As long as you make your own decisions and stick up for what you think is right. If you are liberal, and people have a debate...dont be a coward and not say anything just because most people are conservative...put down what you think and if its an educated statement people should/will respect you whether they agree or not.

I definitely consider guys like...withstamin punk..just because you're conservative or dont listen to a certain type of music...or wear the punk uniform doesnt mean you cant let your opinion mean something.

i dont know if a day in your life can classify a movement...maybe a subculture...but to compare it to 20-25 years ago is rediculous.

as for the tradition....the above messages defined what the traditional punk was...not me. I agree with your statement.

when i picture a "tradtional punk" i picture a guy who looks like he hasnt showered in a week, lives in a van, and will ask you if you can spare some change as you walk by...in that since, i dont think there are any "traditional punks" on this board

But thats my opinion, i see punk as a style of music and i always will, but i would never not listen to a band because of there views, which is why i'm able to still listen to BSF (even though i've lost alot of respect for them), anti-flag, and BR. Becuase its all music.

And as for you examples those are all agendas that i dont always agree with, Capitalism works better then any other form of gov., as for anti-facism im also anti-socialist/communism which have done much more to destroy the world, anti-war is a joke because something cant be solved with out it thats just life, and every one is anti-racism (i hope) but its is the liberals that keep it alive and forceable keep the minorities down at least in this country,
