I never post in this forum, so sorry if this has already been brought up.

That's pretty crazy.

I honestly don't think it will affect Marvel in any way.

Disney just wants a cut at the movies.

I hope Bruckheimer doesn't get any say in anything Marvel.

Is there an "Explosion Man"?

I don't follow comics or Disney enough to have a fair opinion about this, but there's just something about it that I don't like. Maybe it just leads back to my general dislike and distrust for large corporations, governments, and the like.

Ha, I'm far from an anarchist... It's more of a "power corrupts" sort of mentality.

Disney owns Miramax and Pixar, and I've never heard that "The Mouse" messes too greatly with their projects. Plus, there's no way Disney could make Fox's X-Men look good.

If anything, this will just blow the chances of any Marvel movies being a little grown up or respectable, but then again, they never really were.

I know the comics won't be affected, but I'm just concerned about certain adaptations.

My biggest fear, and pardon the cheap usage of MS Paint:

Pretty smart move on Disney's part. Paying out now and reaping the profits on Marvel's huge schedule over the next 4-5 years. (Iron Man sequel, Thor, Captain America, Avengers, etc.)

Was Marvel Comics in a bad state financially? This deal is huge but is really coming out of nowhere

This could fuck with the licensing in Orlando too- between Disney World and Islands Of Adventure there's a lot of competition- Islands of Adventure has a whole Marvel section, licensing could have disney 1-up IOA, in some senses.

does this mean there will be a kingdom hearts in the marvel universe? thats all i really care about.

i doubt Brian K Vaughn would let that happen.Um...it was a joke.

Was Marvel Comics in a bad state financially? This deal is huge but is really coming out of nowhereNah, they were in really a really good financial state. This helps both of them because Disney gets the share of some of the biggest money makers in entertainment, and Marvel gets the resources of a a corporation like Disney.

Didn't Pixar and Disney have a falling out a few years ago because Disney was dipping their hand too much?

Yea, that's what I'm wondering.
Pixar was originally going to go it alone, and try other things, but then Disney realized Pixar WAS their animation division and purchased Pixar, merging it with their in-house animation department. Pixar is now in charge of all animated projects, and Steve Jobs(owner of Pixar) is the largest single shareholder of Disney shares.

the wierdest thing about this situation is the fact that Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando has a whole section dedicated to Marvel comics, and they are one of Disney's biggest rivals as far as theme parks go. Im very interested to see how things go when the lisencing agreement currently in effect between Universal and Marvel expires.

cirerelleum

it would be, but at the same time, there's soooo much more disney id like to see get some shoutouts. they just need to make more kingdom hearts games before they make it into the marvelverse.

Universal only needs to rebrand the rides. Disney needs to build a whole new set of rides/theme parks.

The Spiderman ride is probably the coolest ride I've ever been on. Shit blew my mind.

i can see them rebranding the hulk coaster, the dr. doom free fall thing, and the storm tea cup ride but they wouldn't be able to do the same with the spiderman ride....and quite frankly that is one of the most badass rides i have ever been on
