View Full Version : Is M.I.A. Becoming a Diva?

I heard that at Outside Lands this weekend she made everyone who was backstage, even the bands, clear out and go into their trailers so that she could walk to stage without anyone interfering.
She also remixed Beastie' Boys "Intergalactic" and "Sabotage". I think that it's great that she remixed Beastie Boys' hits, but it kind of seems like she did it out of spite and just couldn't get over the fact that Tenacious D. was filling in for them. (If you missed it, here's some videos: http://bit.ly/1GiPxA)
That, plus all the B.S. surrounding her complaints via Twitter about opening for Tenacious D...

What do you think? Has anyone else ever heard any rumors about her acting like a prima donna?

I think its funny she acts that way considering most people only know her from Paper Planes.

Yeah, I don't understand what justifies her pompous behavior. I would have so much more respect for her were she talented and humble...but I guess that's too much to ask for

I think it's funny that she thinks she's above Tenacious D when she played a festival in a country where most people don't know who she is.
I'd rather hear a fart from Jack Black than anything from her.

But Tenacious D still isn't that great. My opinion, people with shitty senses of humor like them/Jack Black.

Riiiiiiight. I must have imagined that everyone blasted "Paper Planes" in their cars the past two summers, that is was used in two major motion pictures, that it got nominated for a Grammy, that it went double platinum, that the music video has 37 million views on myspace, and that this isn't her performing alongside three of the most famous rappers alive at the only music award show that anyone gives a shit about:

MIA is awesome. Tenacious D are just a poor mans Weird Al. Jack Black has never done anything as good as his role in a John Cusak movie. Dont base your opinoion of people on interweb gossip. If you do, Maculy Culkin in the father of Blanket Jackson.

Yeah ok, go ask anyone on the street to go name another song by her. And while you're at it, why don't you check the actual number of sales that Kala has in the US, which is around 440,000, versus the 2 million that you claim(unless you're talking about world sales, if so label it as so.). Also, Grammys really don't mean shit to people, considering it's ratings have been taking a nosedive in the last few years. You look like a crazed fanboy when you make comments important only to yourself.

Right, certainly not as much as they care about the Kids' Choice Awards:

Let me ask you a question, and think hard about this, has it occurred to you that I knew what you were talking about, decided to have little fun and decided to post a stupid post just to see what you would come up with? Because if you think I didn't, then you're dumber then I thought you were.

So basically he totally killed you in an argument so you had nothing better to say so you used sarcasm, because no way in hell you'd say, "You know what, I was wrong and you brought up a great point."

What makes you think everything I said in this thread wasn't sarcasm? What makes you think I'm not actually a fan of her music and didn't decide to have fun with a stupid thread? Go on now, let's hear an answer.

Then it would be stupid to throw an argument against her when already half the people on the thread are agreeing with she should be opening for Tenacious D. Sarcastic or not.

Considering you started with a stupid post, rebutted with another stupid post, and then came back with yet another stupid post (this one), I really had no reason to assume the train of stupidity would ever end. I still don't. Next time you want to relent to my opinion, just say, "Take my dignity as a trophy and wear it around your neck like a necklace, o great e-debate warrior." That would make things a lot less confusing, and make it a lot more obvious to everyone watching that I just iBitchslapped you in a debate.
You might need to buy two plane tickets next time you fly, you're looking that fat.
