This feels like a plug, but like Wikipedia always says, assume good faith. So here we go, kid, ambient/indie rock combo (although I think this genre is boring as shit (in a general sense) and you could probably do better):

Ratatat (http://www.ratatatmusic.com/)
Slowdive (http://www.slowdive.co.uk/) (although long broken up, still my favorite shoegaze band)

That's enough. I'm bored with this. Enjoy.

The second Deerhunter album, Cryptograms, is a great ambient/shoegaze/indie album.

I think you may like The Octopus Project - The Adjustor. Here's a link to it, and the video is freaking weird, I know. But just listen to the song, you'll love it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDgB9aEjRk4

Search for a band called Wicker Hollow on itunes. They have a sound that is comparable to Green day, but with more Rock and roll. The lead singer has a very unique sound to his voice and every single sound is catchy and would be a perfect addition to anyone's playlist.

Also look for them here:

Mr. Kite just released his first single "You are filthy". Would be considered indie rock with a hint of ambience. It is available to everyone as a free download here:
