yeah ever since dallas left.....

04/17/06, 09:42 AM
Eh, even their old stuff was really generic.
I don't listen to them but Act Of Depression and The Changing Of Times are really, really boring.
Dallas was a much better vocalist, yeah, and I am not into the style they're doing now, but they did get a lot better. Although people are going to argue that the new material is way simpler, it appeals to many more audiences, and since that's what they are going for, they are better now.
I won't lie, I don't like them at all, but I am pretty sure most people are just afraid to admit to liking what they do now.
However, I did see them live and they were fucking horrid.

I've only really liked them since TCOT, that was their first material I really liked.

its good and it can be great at times. but none of the songs seems memorable. the changing of times however is one solid metalcore release

old underoath is my favorite band, so i was wondering what bands you guys think are similiar to their old stuff?
I don't get how people think listening to bad metalcore is more credible than listening to watered down pop rock.

underoath was never good. you arent getting any scene cred or leetness for saying you like the old material from a shitty band.

if you like this band, you have so much to learn about music in the future before you actually "get it"
I like pretty much all underoath for who knows what reason. As far as this thread, I really like Cries of the Past, I don't find it boring like Act of Depression is. It has some pretty sweet licks here and there.
The Changing of Times is the best Underoath album and everyone should agree. BUT I think "The Last" is the best Underoath song ever.

I enjoyed Changing Of The Times and Define The Great Line. Chasing Safely blew my asshole with it's boring poppy chord progressions and cheesy lyrics. Atleast Define The Great Line has more inventive break downs and intensity.
Oh and to address the asshat that said if we like Underoath we need to learn about music....I'm pretty sure you are the one that doesn't "get it". Music isn't about elitism and shaming bands because they don't fit into your close minded list of bands. Music is about enjoying yourself and listening to what you like...Not what other people think is shit.

I totally agree. I hate it when peoples opinions are facts. Idiots. Open up your mind, other people like other kinds of music. It's their life, their taste, their ears. Get over it.

Nah that's what scene kids, like yourself included, are all about. I'm pretty sure our little culture of music is the most filled with assholes that shit on the "little people". I am not saying that I haven't scoffed at people going to see Yellowcard and The Starting Line, but that's mostly just jokingly and for the sake of humor.

well ive actualy just gotten into Underoath. I listend to some of their new stuff and i liked it, it actualy is pretty good. But then i started to listen to songs like Heart of Stone and A Love So Pure and i realy liked it.
And for all you **** who say if you like Underoath then you have no taste in music or whatever. go to hell. I bet you only listen to stuff that is on the radio 24/7 and you here one song from a band and say you love them, without hereing their other songs and/or their old music if theyve been around for a bit.

I woke up and tried to take a shower, but there was no hot water at all. Shit was freezing. I usually take a colder type of shower anyways, but this was unbearable. So today pretty much alreadym sucks.

Honestly, I really do not care whatsoever what everyone else likes. I have listened to more music than most, and after all this time, I still dont care what everyone else is listening too. I listen to what I like-- to what stimulates my earbuds. I like UnderOATH. Plain and simple. If you like them, great. Tell people. If you dont like them...great. Tell people, but dont tell everyone that they dont know what music is just because you might have a different opinion. All of you haters, come off your pedestals and let people listen to what they want to listen to without telling them they are going to music hell.

Yeah, but you have to come to accept that people on the internet will bash other people based on things like what they listen to. Saying "oh people shouldnt make fun of what others listen to" would make the internet a much more friendly place, which also contributes to becoming a boring/uninteresting place at that.

Well at least last night didn't completly blows.
Act of Depression was a bit too choppy for me. Too unfocused. The sound is alright but there are some cheesy singing moments and that kind of thing.
However, I think Cries of the Past is a really solid album. The songwriting is much better. I am a sucker for UO anyway but I think people should at least give this one a try, especially 'The Last' since it's my personal favorite song by them.
I know it's pretty cool to hate underoath these days but I dont really mind enjoying it.

I completely accept the fact that thats not going to change. But that doesnt mean that I have to agree with those people who wont tolerate other peoples opinions. Im expressing my own opinion. And they can get over it.
You see? Now we just made the internet more interesting. Great discussion.
