Let's share our writting talent AP users!
By helping complete poems.
Each poem must be just three paragraphs. Four sentances each. (Total 12 lines)
One user suggests a theme then writes two lines, the next user writes two lines as well. That completes a paragraph. The next user starts off a new paragraph with two lines. And so on...
The one who writes the last two lines (lines 11, & 12) picks a name for the completed poem, and suggests a new theme. Then the next user writes two lines....and so on.
So there should be only SIX users to a poem.
Each two lines MUST rhyme (somehow).
And each two lines MUST go in harmony with the rest of the poem.
I'll start off...(let's start with the basics)
Theme: Falling in Love.
I miss you every other minute that passes.
You are me composture, you are my brackets.
(...your turn!)

The efforts of a misguided thread
Leave all but hopeless lovers dead.

In seriousness -- "paragraphs" to which you reference are called stanzas; if this is to come to any fruition at all, the topic can't be something so finite let alone cliche; the rhyme scheme and form can't be so drab if they are to exist at all; each person to add to the poem should be free to take his or own twist on the subject or style, since it's impossible to get such an amalgamate of poets conforming to a single style.
To be honest, I like the idea, but I doubt that it would ever work** on this board.
**Addendum: with a half-decent end result

I think this is a curious idea, I'd be interested in going into deeper discussions on it. This seems way too out of the blue and one sided. You decide the rules, the topic for the first, and write the first two lines? Seems a bit odd, could be done better. Also, you're two lines seem to be written on the spot and are not something I'd care to finish.
We should discuss this as a forum, not follow as one. There should be an interesting topic that can be open to separate interpretations by each writer so that the pieces will be strung together with a collection of thoughts on a subject perhaps metaphysical or cursory.

Indeed. I'd love to see what the AP Poetry forum could put together.
The hardest part, though, would be making a coherent poem between a dozen or so individuals with totally different styles.

I miss you every other minute that passes.
You are my composure, you are my brackets.
Kept enclosed inside these absolute values,
No sign can dictate what we have to do.

Horrible idea, and horrible execution. No.

Four sentances each?
Choosing the length of a poem before you write it will most likely result in a horrible poem.

Horrible idea...
I thought so too, until I thought of those crazy Transcendentalists for a bit, and began to wonder what the child of a poetry commune would be.
...and horrible execution.
Will not disagree.
No.
A REAL ROMANTIC WOULD SAY "YES." ;-)

Lord Byron would set this thread on fire and laugh as it burned to death. Seriously.

I agree with most responses. I know, what a drag, huh? That's just me---no constrictions, no rules; I like to write poetry with wild abandon. I'm a believer in the beauty of words and the emotions beneath them, not necessarily how orderly they are composed. However, I think many people will enjoy this. To all, enjoy!
