very weird someone decided to start a 'best video ever' thread

first of all there are TONS of videos few have seen but deserve a nod. in truth there are too many great vids to even begin to decide

for example

blur - a band with a ton of great videos like 'coffee and tv', 'the universal' (an astounding kubrick ref), and 'pop scene' (many more though)

radiohead - now these are very cool trendy trendy vids

taking back sunday - 'cute without the e' great vid

less than jake - fun, powerful vids which capture the spirit of the band rather well

at the drive in - invalid litter dept (great stuff considering -scissor')

bad religion - always great with imagery

madonna - great trend vids...profound influence on pop culture

weezer - a nod to buddy holly

bloodhound gang - older vids like 'ballad of chasey lain' are hilarious

korn - 'freak on a leash' hands down

beastie boys - the criterion collection dvd is a must have for any fan

daft punk - great dvd also (jonze like what)

a-ha - take on me (great breakthrough in early music videos)

and a lot more ranging from lennox to devo to minogue

these were some from the top of my head though

so yeah point is, go and check out some of the older vids before judging on this particular art form

from punk to pop to techno a ton of vids are great....it's the music interaction with visuals that is beautiful...hell even if someone did a vid to something like 'schubert - erlkonig' i'd certainly love it...would be cool to see the imagery

in fact that would be a cool idea indeed

i really like Taking Back Sunday's video for Great Romances of the 20th century. It's nothing fancy, but it really shows what kind of show they put on (a damn good one)

Home Grown - You're Not Alone = Hilarious
Thursday - Cross Out The Eyes = Just Plain Weird
Frank Zappa - City Of Tiny Lights = Amazing Video!
Finch - What It Is To Burn = Very Movie-esque

You Americans get better videos and stuff over there. Over here in the UK, it's just plain crap! :p

you are all idiots. do you really consider these bad pop-punk clips to rank amongst the greatest videos ever made? tahts rediculous. especilaly evryone who says that relient k vid. that is prolly the single worst video ive ever seen.

my picks

nine inch nails - closer
smashing pumpkins - 1979 and tonight,tonight
marilyn manson - beatiful people and coma white
public enemy - fight the power
guns 'n' roses - sweet child 'o' mine and november rain
pearl jam - jeremy
nirvana - smells like teen spirit
madonna - like a prayer

i dont care what you say, none of your pop shit can touch those videos

Matthew
07/14/03, 07:48 AM
really? do you have any taste in music at all?

relient k vs. the smashing pumpkins
new found glory vs. nine inch nails
the starting line vs. guns 'n' roses

if you had to think about any of thsoe questions you are a complete idiot. and thats from a purely cinematic standpoint. those videos are all amazing to watch and take music video to new levels of art. from a musical standpiont.... you cannot possibly believe that any of these flash-in-the-pan pop-punk successes even come clsoe to these bands.

it was a good video... but the music sucked. korn didn't make it. it was all the digital effects guys involved.

brand new>korn

korn won't die. even though almost no one likes them. they keep making shit records.

Yeah, who needs Radiohead when you have the artistic and intellectual depth of bands like Mest?
