View Full Version : Torn between Two Shows

I am forced with the decision of either going to see Trivium, Chimaira, Dirge within, White chapel at the House of Blues in Chicago or seeing Thrice, The Dear Hunter, and the Polar Bear Club at the Chubby Rain in Poplar Grove.
Both are playing at the same time on November 17th. Im about 30 minutes outside Chicago, so naturally, that would be the easiest show for me to attend. Poplar Grove is a bit of a drive, but... its Thrice.
Thrice has been one of my favorite bands and Ive only seen em once when they came through Chicago with Rise Against, Alk3, and The Gaslight Anthem. That being said, I would really love to see them again, especially when they're headlining.
I have seen Trivium three times already. I think theyll be playing the same set that ive seen em play twice already. Dirge Within was kick ass at Mayhem. However I wouldnt want to have to see White Chapel for a 3rd time either.
So I'm stuck in a bit of a pickle. I know that the House of Blues is great for shows, not quite sure of the Chubby Rain. Both shows are around the same price.
If you could give me some insight and help me make my decision that would be much appreciated.

The Dear Hunter is such an amazing live band, I've never personally listened to any of the other bands extensively so I can't give an honest opinion, but The Dear Hunter is something you can't miss, if not then definitely see them sometime soon,
Thrice easily. Trivium blows.

Do you really have to think about seeing Thrice over Trivium?

I normally decide between two shows by thinking of:
When was the last time either bands were here/when are they most likely coming back
How much money are the tickets
Who will go with me
Which show is at a better venue
And then sometimes I'll read some reviews to see who puts on a better show.
If you've only seen Thrice once and they're one of your favorite bands...I'd say go to that. Esp if you've seen the other bands multiple times before.

Wow. Possibly the easiest decision ever. It's obvious that Thrice/TDH/PBC is a much better show.

I've seen Thrice 7 times, and every time they were boring as fuck. Trivium, while their music is not as good as Thrice, puts on an amazing show. I would pick Trivium.

See Thrice since bands like Whitechapel tour a lot. And Thrice is headlining so you would hear a much longer set than when you saw them before.
Thrice... just by reading your first post, that's what seems to be the one you want to go to.

Considering you've seen Trivium three times already and that Whitechapel blows, I would say go see Thrice and Polar Bear Club. Even if it's farther, it's easily the better show out of the two.

The Dear Hunter. Always choose The Dear Hunter.

Thanks for the input guys. The reason the decision isnt so clear and simple is because the Thrice show is more of a haul for me, instead of an easy train ride into the city.
It will be an ADVENTURE!!!!

Thrice, it's not a hard decision

If you wanna sing along, Thrice & The Dear Hunter. If you wanna mosh, Trivium.
