Don't make a blanket statement on the status of major-studio horror when there is so much good in the genre going on around the world. Ignorance isn't bliss.

Didn't take too long. I knew that the second Paranormal Activity gained popularity people would go straight from loving it, to undeserved hate. It was a great movie. I'm not saying just you, but something I've noticed over all.

On that note, I think this looks interesting, we'll see how it pans out.

Looks intresting from the trailer and I have always liked Milla Jovovich as an actress (not so much her movies) but I think this will tip either way and not be a middle of the run movie.

That's why I said it's not just you. I noticed an overall movement from praise to hate as it started to become "hip". No disrespect to you.

Because when I would watch obviously falsified documentaries on abductions when I was little I wouldn't go to sleep due to fear of being abducted.

Wasn't on about the fact she is hot, I was on about the fact she is a really good actress who is (for the most part) put into poorly written and directed movies.

I was talking more about how off the scenery is. I'm hoping I dont notice the background because if I do it's going to take me right out of the movie. But she's pretty and good so maybe both of those things will distract me.

This isn't a movie that needs epic ariel footage of scenery or massive amounts of detail, it is a horror/sci-fi not a drama/love story.

I dont need epic aerial footage or scenery or even massive amounts of detail. But when there's a movie thats based on "true events" with "actual documentary footage" I would like for them to at least film in an area that appears like the town this is supposed to be in. Nome is a flat, tundra town right on the shore of the sea, from the previews, they make it look like it's Juneau or here. I know it seems like nitpicking, but for a recreation of a "documentary" they could at least get the facts right about the town.

Well I don't know the area personally but from what I have read about the film it is not entirely based on true events and a couple of sites that have been marketed with the film have been criticised for being fake and looking too real, so I guess your only picking one small and minor detail of something only 2 minutes long.

Its not based on true events almost at all, basically the only thing true about it is the abnormal disappearance rate there (which could be explained by the alcoholics and the climate). I'm not sure if you get what I'm saying but if you have a movie that's advertised as being based on true events with "actual" footage, then they should have learned what Nome at least looks like.

It would be like me making a movie on king Aurthur and making the setting a beach with some penguins wandering around. I'm not going to be invested in the plot (especially one like this) that is so wrong about the setting. I get that it's supposed to be a horror/thriller/scifi type of movie, but if they filmed in bulgaria, they might as well have said it took place in a different climate.

I know what you mean about the setting and everything but not everyone knows what that town looks like anyway plus it isn't essential to the plot and the progression of the story. I just don't see it as something that would make me not see it or something that would bother me while watching it.

Nome is pretty essential to the plot though, if you notice, she's looking in to the missing persons rate in Nome. To me, the setting should at least resemble the actual town at least a little bit. If you look at pictures of Nome and then watch the trailer, they're totally different. I dont actually expect anyone else to notice it, since there arent many people who have been there, but it's something that might bother me if I see this movie.

The owl part might keep me interested though.

I'm obsessive about the details of everything. If I notice something wrong, I'll sit there and obsess on all the ways I could fix it. If I didnt live here, I wouldnt give a shit about it either.

I saw this movie last night, and it was not because I wanted to. My mom is huge into aliens, and she and my step-sister invited me to go see it with them. The whole, "real footage" is ridiculous of course, but the movie itself I found pretty creepy. It messes with you, because although you are completely skeptical of this archived footage, part of you is like...but what if? I don't think they needed to give the whole this is real bit to make the movie decent, it would have been fine without it. I think it's underrated, especially compared to paranormal activity. But I said paranormal activity sucked on some forum post earlier in the month, and people hated me, haha. Anyway .. I think it is worth seeing.

terrible terrible bad bad terrible. i liked paranormal alot more than this. i even liked saw6 more than this. i as getting sooo bored during this. the acting for the reenactments is razzie worthy and it's not scary at all. i ended up laughing with the rest of the audience. i give this movie a 1/10 and i feel that to be generous

I don't care if this movie is true or not, i thought it was actually quite terrifying in stages and very very well done... The part where Scott was met at his home lying in his bed and then rose out of his bed in a seated positon with his eyes and mouth wide open scared the fuck out of me... Seriously! What annoys me even though i know it's a movie is how dumb, really how dumb cops are! Great movie...
