i first saw this movie in theaters because i was in a judd apatow crazed mode and was pretty underwhelmed. it wasn't until about a year or so later that i saw it again at home and realized how truly amazing it is. it's hilarious, creative, and definitely stands the test of time.
but this thread isn't about the movie, it's about the soundtrack.
john c reilly has an incredible voice. i would've never imagined that it would be so good. all the songs are catchy and are just plain good. there are some funny parts, but if you just look at the music by itself not considering the movie, it would still be really, really great.
definitely check out this album, or at least these songs:
a life without you (is no life at all)
beautiful ride
there's a change a happening

The movie is amazing, it's just pure awesome. I might have to watch it again soon. The soundtrack is sweet too, every song is gold. Fun fact: John C. Reilly wrote Walk Hard.

This movie is fucking amazing. After I saw it, I tried to show it to some friends who hated it. I thought I was crazy, but I'm glad other people agree. If you listen to music, and get the references, it's one of the best comedies you'll see.

for sure. the fact that the music is good makes the movie even funnier/better/awesome.

I meant the song Walk Hard, not the movie.
From Wikipedia: He was nominated for...a Grammy Award (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award) for the song "Walk Hard", which he wrote and performed in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walk_Hard:_The_Dewey_Cox_Story).

i was talking about the song too.
i guess technically he "wrote" it because him and like 5 other guys threw in their ideas, but that Mitchell dude wrote the lyrics and guitar, and they just changed it up a little.
either way, perfect movie.

"Royal Jelly! "
Omg the Bob Dylan impersonation had me about to pee my pants, it was great!
..but on a more serious note John C Reilly does have a rather good singing voice; I just hope he doesn't turn into a Joaquin Phoenix and become a terrible rapper.

Exactly, if Walk the Line or Ray are the only music biopics you've seen then alot of its gonna fly over your head, you gotta be familiar with the rock biopic formula as much as the films it parodies. That being said the music is actually amazing, not only is it funny, but its actually friggin good music you can enjoy without it being novelty.
fav songs,
Take My Hand: a provacative Buddy Holly style song "YIOU KNOW WHO ELSE HAS HANDS???"
Darling: The Everly Brothers style song
Royal Jelly: Effing hysterical Dylan-esque surreal poetic none sense song
Walk Hard: obviously, I won't lie, I play this on the acoustic all the time
Walk Hard (punk version): rockabilly + cocaine = PUNK RAWK!!!!!! hysterical
You Make Me So (Hard): Song by Rapper Lil' Nutzack that sampled Walk Hard, classic

I saw Dewey live at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame before the movie came out, it was such a blast.

I know dude. Despite my poor sentence structure there, I wasn't talking about them being amazing on the soundtrack.
