Playoffs are set. Post your thoughts predictions, etc in here.
EAST:
1. Pistons vs 8. Bucks
2. Heat vs 7. Bulls
3. Nets vs 6. Pacers
4. Cavs vs 5. Wizards
WEST:
1. Spurs vs 8. Kings
2. Suns vs 7. Lakers
3. Nuggets vs 6. Clippers
4. Mavericks vs 5. Grizzlies
I think both LA teams will win in the first round. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls knock off the struggling Heat. I still like the Pacers chances, JO is at the top of his game now and Carlisle has realized that Tinsley sucks ass, Pacers won the season series vs the Nets and match up well with them. Pistons will destroy the Bucks and the Wiz will upset the Cavs. Spurs will win, then both LA teams, and the Mavs.

I really don't see how anyone can think that the Lakers will win a 7 game series against the Suns. The Lakers have absolutely no depth and will pull out maybe 1 or 2 games against the Suns.

Cavs
In the East, the first 4 seeds just are so much better then any of the other teams that I really don't see any upsets occurring. The bottom 4 seeds are barely at .500. I see all the series going 4 or 5 games.
Spurs
Suns
Clippers
Mavs
The West should be more interesting. I think the Spurs will win in 5, the Suns will win in 6, the Clippers will win in 6, and the Mavericks will win in 5 as well. These series will be much closer then the East in my opinion and I see more room for upsets.

some of you may be too young to remember, but in 94 the 8th seeded nuggets beat out the first ranked sonics, who also had the best record in the leauge that season. this was a nuggets team with a starting line up of mutumbo, abdul rauf, laphonso ellis, bryant stith, and reggie williams, facing a team of shawn kemp, gay payton detlef schrempf, kendall gill, sam perkins, ricky pierce and nate mcmillan. sonics shouldve killed them, but the nuggets always kept it close...im confident the lakers will prevail in the first round.

wanna make a friendly wager on this?do it matt haha. The lakers havent proven they can beat the suns when nash is in the line up this year. So to win 4 out of 7 with one game in phoenix seems a lot to ask for with the lakers. Not to mention that they arent a great defensive team. I really think suns in 5 but it could go to 6

i think you guys are TOO confident. that's all that's bothering me, you're taking this like it's a piece of cake, and im sure it will be anything but. matt, you've got the clippers to worry about, bet on them, ill bet with people that care about the game, IE yellowsecond.
youre saying all these instances that they never beat them when nash was playing. it's a whole new season now, i just think that kobes playoff experience, phil jacksons playoff experience, will be greater than that of the suns. they have no inside presence to contend with the lakers, and i think that may be the ultimate deciding factor.

Its not like the suns players havent played in the playoffs either. Nash, Marion, Bell have all been there. I dont see how i am TOO confident. I only spoke up when i saw somebody put "the lakers will beat the suns in the playoffs" in their sig. To me the deciding factor will be if the lakers can play good enough defense and hold the suns below 100.

kobe and phils experience is plenty. its much more than the suns combined. im just thinking too many people are doubting the lakers, everyone doubted the lakers at the beginning of the season saying they wouldnt get in the playoffs, that they'd finish between 10th and 15th in the west, blah blah. its the same thing all over again. also, jim jackson was signed by the lakers for one reason, the playoffs. i think he's going to play a huge role in the playoffs for them.

I think the lakers have a great shot at beating the suns. I think Lamar Odom is awesome and if we see some good work in the paint from him as well as Kobe scoring 4 million points a game, its gonna be a good series. Personally, I am rooting for the Lakers but I can't deny the strength of the suns.

Let's see Kobe, Odom, Brown or Nash, Marion, Diaw...let me see who I think is going to win. I am very confident the Suns will beat the Lakers, although I have been wrong in the past. I tend to agree ..I think they are the most likely #1 or #2 to go down in the 1st round too (Suns look sketchy too). I hate the way they play basketball, although if it werent for Wade it'd be unbearable to watch.

One of the burning memories in my mind is Dikembe Mutumbo laying on his back and clutching the ball in front of his face w/ his goofy ass grin after they had just pulled it out. What a good story. Anyway, I see it going down like this ...

more proof you dont watch basketball. chris mihm has been out for nearly a month and a half, kwame starting in his place. he's put up 15 ppg and 9 rpg during that time, and really solidified his place in the lakers offense. kwame's done more than his share in the post, including holding tim duncan to 12 points and 4 boards against them in march. youre being too cocky matt...and for a team you dont even root for. go watch the clippers.

i'm not being cocky...my favorite teams are the Clippers, T-Wolves, and whoever is playing the Lakers. All I have heard all year is how much the Lakers team sucks and how they are all a bunch of rejects that don't do anything except let Kobe score. Now you are pulling out the Brown is actually good. I know, he's the reason I think they take Thomas in the draft, because he can score along with Gordon/Hinrich/Deng, and allow for the 4/5 man to be a defensive figurehead for that team. They controlled Wade well in the 4th, until he caught fire at the end and ran away with it, but even the announcers pointed out that he was struggling to score in the lane, an additional defensive threat could complete that

Why should they be furious? Refs call it tight in the playoffs and Krstic grabbed Anthony Johnson's jersey when he was going for the shot, last time I checked, that was a foul. Go Pacers, you earned this game. Also LeftWideOpen, Nets were getting all kinds of BS calls from mid 3rd on, especially the one where Carter clearly charged AJ and they called a block on it and Carter laid on the ground and cried about it. It works both ways.

there's 1 second to play, he had a hold of the jersey for about .5 seconds and he didnt even pull on it. it was a touch foul and it's pretty hard to call that w/ 1 second to play. the foul w/ about 30 seconds to go that put Jeff Foster on the line was even worse.

if anything i think yesterday gave some insight into how well this Laker team can play. The Suns were firing on all cylinders. they had stellar games for all players(minus Bell) and had the home court opener, and still only managed to beat this team by five points. not to mention that Bryant had more than 10pts less than his season avg(even more than his avg. against the Suns). Kobe can NEVER get too much credit. i don't think anybody is giving this Laker team enough credit for what they've put together. i say we wait until Kobe starts playing more like himself before anybody dictates the direction of this series.

Sure kobe was 10 points below his average, but if he starts scoring his average it is hard for me to see somebody like luke walton score 19 or anything close to it or the rest of the team to have as good of games which evens that out in my opinion. I am interested to see if kobe will take a lot more control next game (which i think will hurt the lakers even more). I still dont think this series goes to even 7 games, I wouldnt be surprised if the suns won in 5 but predict they do so in 6. The whole kobe getting too much credit was just the point that i see tons of people picking the lakers mainly just because of kobe, without looking at the whole team. If somehow the lakers win the series you can throw this in my face but the suns are a better team and have proven so all season

am i missing something? the nuggets are the 3 seed yet the clippers have home-court?
Is this a new rule?
yeah, home court goes to the team w/ the better record. The #3 seed is Denver's, pretty much for show, because they won their division.

good to see the Spurs pull that one out. Sac really impressed me though, I had honestly thought they wouldn't have a shot in the world at even making this a series but who knows now.
the Nets came out and did what they needed to do. no surprise there to me. I didn't think they would honestly lose both at home. the Pacers did what they needed to do in taking one in NJ.
The Wizards just made this series a lot more interesting. I can see this series going 7 games.

yeah well they are going to have to play hard teams no matter what so...I figure, in order to be the best you have to beat the best. so if it comes down to the Clippers and Spurs, that will really show how good the Clippers are.

Very frustrating game. I can't see how the Suns can play any worse, I give credit to the lakers defense but the other part was just bad shooting and sloppy play. That 19-0 run by the lakers was the killer, which I cannot see happening again this series. They did make a nice run towards the end but that run earlier in the game with some questionable calls at the end was too much to overcome. I expect phoenix to come out running a lot more next game and playing the way that they are capable of playing. Charles Barkley said it best for the lakers to beat the suns they have to play near perfect. With that said i think phoenix will steal a game back in LA hopefully

if everyone is going to complain about every missed charge, then no one will have time for anything else. nba officials call alot of blocks when they should be charges. it's how the game's played, big deal.
