realize that what some may see as "helping out", other may look at that as hurting, its all in opinion, and many people dont agree with the US.......being "spit" on is the threat we live with for being able to live a free life that is full of opportunity and hope, people are jeleous of this

i agree, they spit on us when they need our help and we don't want to get involved, and then spit on us when we decide to take action on something. and all the while they are enjoying their little (actually huge) foreign aid checks.

its because their leaders and their economics are fucked.

because of the terrible situations in those nations, where almost everyone is poor and a few rich people controls everything, where there is no electricity or water, or even food, the rich government is worried there maybe a revolution, and they may lose power. so they scapegoat it on people, like hitler claimed the communists for the destruction of post world war one germany. usually, america is the main force behind efforts to free oppressed people and fix the governments who beat their people and have power through wealth, so they blame the US. this works very well in three ways:

-the governments are building hate towards an enemy
-the people are ignorant and uneducated and usually dont disagree
-and the people are to busy buying flags to burn with their tiny salaries to revolt or even see that the government is killing them

the global and national media doesnt help much either. when a country needs help and doesnt receive or recieves very little aid, the media blames the government as being self-centered. then stupid people hold demonstrations to show that they hate america and think that america(/ns) are greedy and only concerned with themselves. when the US attempts to liberate a country, the media calls it a hostile invasion. the same idiots hold demostrations calling america an imperialist nation, invaders, and war mungers. it is a lose-lose situation.

^dude, i cant believe i typed that. im pretty fucking impressed with myself.

It's all Manifest Destiny

it happened in the early westward expasion of the states and is happening now.

America feels as if it is sheading light on a dark world. That the people of Iraq (and syria, afghanistan, and the list goes on) are a backward people, and its gods will to let american swoop in and save the day, just like they did to the natives in the early 1800s.

I am still waiting for proof of weapons of mass destruction. That was the justification for the war wasnt it? Oh ya that was unitl they realized there werent any and then the US changed their story to regime change.

"Dont burn your oil wells, they are your lively hood, and are worth alot of money to the US."

the justifacation was that Iraq broke the cease fire agreement signed with the US after the first gulf war...

that is a prime example of an ignorant statement.

the president wasn't just loungin around the white house and decided to change his justification for the war to regime change when we hadn't found any WMD as of that point. the idea has always been to get rid of saddam whether there are WMD or not. its just that WMD in the hands of saddam is just all the more reason to take him out of power. he's a dangerous man either way, which is the idea behind everything in the first place.

notice in the preceding explanation for the war, oil was not mentioned. hmm... maybe that's because it has nothing to do with anything. that must be it.

Also, they've for fairly good evidence suggesting chemical weapons. Some of it is still in for testing, but it's looking suspicious.

I thought the "weapons" have teleported themselves to Syria.
Saddam is crazy right? He only cares about himself, could give a shit about his people blah blah blah. So, if he had these weapons, why didn't he just gung-ho it and unlease them on American forces. A guy like that wouldn't care, he'd probably see himself in this glorious last stand. So, if he had these weapons, why didn't he use them?

saddam isn't actually the guy that fires the weapons, you understand that right? he has to order someone to do it, so somewhere along the chain of command someone probably had the good sense to say i don't think i want to do this...

if he didn't have these weapons why didn't he prove it to the UN weapons inspectors?

how do you prove that you have no weapons? if there not there, then they arn't there. And wouldn't Saddam have that anyone who disagrees with him killed. this is a very egotistical guy we're talking about. and he had nothing to lose.

they had the weapons, and they never proved that they destroyed them...

also, if you know saddam is going to kill you if you don't obey his orders, you certainly aren't going to let him no you are disobeying him...

Lot more replys than i thought i would get! And a ton of different Veiws....
I recently found out from one of my family members who has been in iraq that the news reports of most of the fighting being over, are pretty false. He said theyr having tougher times now than the were in the beginning...so much for "fox news". Also, if you check some of the Iraqi sites, or tele shows, theres some pretty intresting shit on.......

BTW. Stompemplay, im in north east illinois, near rockford.

is your relative in the military?

there have been alot of reports that the fighting is heavy, but you have to realize that to a reporter who has never been in combat, a bunch of people shooting at each other is viewed as heavy fighting, but in the grand scheme of things, to the military it really isn't anything that they aren't prepared for or expecting.

The government doesn't release every thing that they do in military conflicts, special op's were probably in iraq long before the conflict started securing missle sites, but this information wont be released for years.
