View Full Version : Halo 3: ODST
Just saw this commerical, which makes me more bitter that a Halo movie is not close to being made.
Check it (wait through the 30 sec bullshit ad). (http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/852871/bungie-project-2/videos/haloodst_liveaction_trl_090409.html )

It's a minute and a half dude, don't get your panties in a jumble. We all know a Halo movie could be cool, but if Peter fucking Jackson can't get it off the ground, no one can ... face it.
That said, VG Thread.

After seeing District 9, I must say the studios really fucked up by not letting the Halo movie move forward. Now they lost Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson (Neil said he wont do the Halo movie even if they asked him to again). With a budget of $30 mil, District 9 was incredible, imagine how good the Halo movie would be with those two behind it and a budget of $150 mil.

...and the game looks good I guess. Too much money for a short campaign, if they threw in some new multiplayer stuff I would be all about it.

Have you heard how long the campaign is going to be, officially?
Also, they've added a new MP mode, Firefight and thrown in some maps. But yeah if the campaign is short--then yeah I agree.

Can't wait for this and a shitload of other games, talk about hardly any games all year and then in the last 3 months we get everything at once.

And chill, I was talking about the 30 second ad that plays BEFORE the ODST trailer.
Reading comprehension is a skill.

I'm an Insider, so I don't have to sit through the ads ;-)
But on topic, yeah, I can't imagine how good a Halo movie could have been after seeing District 9

Hindsight is always 20/20. I'm sure now the studios are kicking themselves but not so much. At the time Neil was a no-name (relatively), and there was a lot of money involved for a movie based on a video game. And we know how those typically turn out.

If it's the repetitive garbage juice that Halo 2 & 3 were, then no thanks. But that commercial was really, really cool.

I heard like 7 hours or something, it was originally supposed to be downloadable content for like 20 or 30 bucks, then M$ had to step in and be assholes.

either way, im buying.
think of it this way.
firefight, if released as downloadable content, would prolly be around 1600 MS points.
3 new halo 3 maps, 800 MS points. thats thirty dollars right there.
then an extended campaign, on top of that.
id say its worth 60 bucks.

You're justifying your purchase. Tell-tale sign that it isn't worth it.

will it keep the halo standard frame-rate? you know, worse than the stick-man flipbooks i made on tablets in grade school?

well it's 30 fps and sub-HD, exactly like Halo 3.

it's a whole new game. the first disc comes with a ~7h campaign (4 player co-op enabled) where you take the role of an ODST, it's a little like Metroid meets Halo 1. You traverse a large-ish hub city and find clues to where the rest of your squad is.
then there's a mode called firefight which, in a nutshell, is Gears 2's horde mode Halo'ified.
the 2nd disc is basically the entire multiplayer from Halo 3 with all the released DLC added.
im so fucking prepared to drop.

the game is going to have multiplayer that isn't firefight. a lot of the people who got advanced copies have been saying that there is a menu on it that says multiplayer. We shall see either way it's going to be fun. I've been playing it here at school they have a kiosk with 4 tv's playing firefight. It is for sure a buy.

We have known that for quite sometime. I am also pretty sure that it was announced when the game was announced.

Who knows haha maybe I just need more time with it. I like the story mode but multiplayer is kinda confusing. What's the difference between ranked/social and it looks like you have a separate rank for each game type? And why does it feel like I'm shooting these guys a million times and they're still alive but I'm dead when I get shot twice!? Haha. I guess I'm just too used to Call of Duty at the moment.
