Very intriguing final. Two great emcee's. Two days to vote.

Common or Jay-Z?

I'll sum up my vote with one lyric:

"Truthfully, I wanna rhyme like Common Sense. Sold 5 mil, I ain't rhymed like Common since."

I really don't think he should win this, but neither should Jay-Z.

Reasonable Doubt is more important than any album Common's released, but Common has a stronger library all around, he's responsible for two of the best hip-hop songs I've ever heard (The Light and I Used to Love H.E.R.) and he's released far, far less bad shit than Jigga has. Jay-Z's library is really large, but the dude has three really good albums. The rest is average, subpar, or straight garbage.

Too be honset, I'm a bit of a Hip-Hop novice. I Used To Love H.E.R. is class though, I love how his songs are so jazzy and chilled out.

That's as ridiculous as saying Nas has never put out anything that was garbage.

Blueprint 2 is the lowest of the low. The Life and TImes... wasn't good at all, Hard Knock Life wasn't anything great either. Same goes for The Dynasty.

Reasonable Doubt is classic in every sense of the word. Blueprint was great, and The Black Album was terrific. After that, there's nothing that stands out.

Blueprint 2 was like any double album. too much filler, but to call it garbage is completely ignorant. Jay-Z's best song ever is on Blueprint 2 (Meet the Parents). Dynasty is arguably another collabo piece since every song has a feature. but its still not garbage. 1900hustler, stick 2 the script, THIS CANT BE LIFE (kanyes first thing he produced for jay), streets is talking... you cant say that album is garbage theres so many bangers on it. hard knock life is undeniably excellent... i dont know how you can say its garbage. a week ago... money aint a thing... hard knock life... coming of age da sequel... all excellent tracks...

the only album i can give you that mostly clunkers is life and times. definitely his worst album. i still wouldnt call it garbage. dope man... s.carter... big pimpin and nymp are good tracks. 4/18 isnt a good ratio though.

Haha, that's what I said in the first place, though I was just using that lyric as a joke, I wasn't using it to try to exemplify Common's superiority.

common can't touch the wide range of flows jay has.

" There's never been a ***** this good for this long
This hood
Or this pop is hot
Or this strong
With so many different flows
This ones for this song
The next one i'll switch up"

Electric circus is the shit.

It's just like nothing else. I do love the album though.

Roc la familia, Blueprint is mostly shit, Hard Knock Life vol 2 is only alright.

The only amazing one in my opinion is the Black Album.

Common is consistently amazing, but Talib, Mos Def, Black Thought, Nas (if not just for illmatic), and MF Doom are way above him.

Saying that Common or Jay-Z is the best isn't accurate. They are really good at what they do, but there are plenty better rappers.

the blueprint is a classic, are you fuckin serious? the black album isnt his best album... have you even listened to reasonable doubt?

jay-z is the best rapper alive and anyone who knows anything about hip hop would agree.

This whole post and your comment about crunk basically prove you know nothing about hip-hop.

I think Talib Kweli is above Common. Only my opinion, though.

"Truth be told, if lyrics sold, lyrically, I'd be Talib Kweli"

Jay-Z haters. Every single album he's every produced has had many bangers, and the singles are always good too. Hating on In My Lifetime? That shit had Friend or Foe 98 and Sunshine and many more. Hating on Hard Knock Life? Did you even listen to his flows on ***** What, ***** Who? Or Money Cash Hoes, when the Jay/DMX relationship was at its best. Reservoir Dogs? One of the best Roc comps they've produced to date.

If anyone dislikes Life and Times of Sean Carter, you're fucking insane.

People that say they don't like the Dynasty is a cop out. I didn't like it for all the collabs on it, but songs like Stick 2 the Script and This Can't Be Life keep the CD listenable.

Blueprint, front to back, is an amazing album. There isn't one bad song, aside from maybe That ***** Jigga. Song Cry, Momma Loves Me, Renegade, Takeover, U Don't Know, Never Change. Fuck man, so many great songs.

You can't hate on Blueprint 2, merely for the fact that The Watcher 2 is amazing.

Black Album was his most garbage album to date if any of them. Get off whatever hood standard you think he needs to adhere too. Black Album was his most radio friendly album yet, and it's no surprise its the most loved. I mean, everyone in this fucking thread is posting lines from the Black Album.

"You cowards is just now learnin the shit that we talk
You niggaz ain't know about a Robb Report
Bout a high speed Porsche, i.e.
You niggaz ain't know how to floss 'til I came through the door
like "Eric B. for Pres," respect me in this BITCH!
You can't disrespect us cause you got a little check cut
You was suckin for so long, fuckin your little neck up
Now you too big for your britches, you got a few little bitches
You think you Hugh Hefner, you just ridiculous
I blew breath for you midgets, I gave life to the game
It's only right I got the right to be king"
