i just heard that the penalty for being an illegal alien in mexico is a mandatory 2 years in jail. talk about mixed signals.

Well that's the problem. Mexico encourages their citizens to illegally enter our country, but in reality, Mexico guards it's southern border like you wouldn't believe. They don't want all the poor people from El Salvadaor and Guatemala crossing into Mexico.
