Hey i'm new here. I need advice off of fellow alternative people. I have loads of friends but none of my friends are punk/emo/metal whatever, They all like dance music. I love them dearly but i feel lonley, i want to go to rock clubs and stuff with people like me, i wanna listen to punk without people telling me to turn it off. There are no punky people living in my area and i feel really awkward. Where do i find like minded people to hang out with? it makes me miserable. I'm popular enough but i need like minded people. I love emo boys (and chicks) but they're all like 19 and i'm nearly 25 so i feel old. Help? Thanks xx

Try to find a local forum online maybe that will give you insight into the local rock scene. Do you feel comfortable going to things by yourself? Because just going to a show is a great way to make some new friends and stuff within the rock 'scene'.

you are 25 and you still care about what people think of you? just go see shows by yourself. it's not that bad. you might even meet some new friends.

i'm also 25 and none of my friends go to shows (unless its Coheed, all my friends like them), but i have also met a lot of cool people at these shows, albeit they being about 10 years younger than i. i still have fun, and have made a bunch of "show friends" i see all the time now.

I think its weird when you see the same kids at all the shows and you just kind of awkwardly acknowledge each other. I need to find more people to go to shows with in Boston because none of my friends will. As much as I like going by myself, walking home is creepy.
May 18th is less than a month away...:)

stop stereotyping people and try and get some of your friends to listen to some of the music you do. if a really good band is coming near you, give your friend a cd and ask if they want to go.
but since you love emo boys and chicks, you're not going to meet any genuinely cool people so just stop trying.
