Last night I attended Against Me!/Alkaline Trio show in Clevleand Ohio at The Agora Theatre.
Before I get into the review I just want to make a comment about that part of Cleveland. WTF. It's the most run down area I've seen in quite sometime. Then in the middle of all that mess is two venues. Hah, I really liked it though and I'm a fan of Cleveland. I also noticed that there is not a red key light at the top of The Key Tower in dowtown. I always pay attention to buildings and stuff like that so I noticed that right away.
Knowing only a third of Against Me!'s catalog I only knew a few songs they played last night. I noticed the new stuff is a lot more poppy but I enjoyed watching them. During the song the bassist and the lead guitarist threw their instruments in the air and the one caught them. They were both entertaining and into what they were doing. Thumbs up to these guys.
Between bands there were these two drunk girls that came up on me and this kid standing to my left. One of them said she wanted to crowd surf, so when the music started playing, put her up. This kid and I tried to explain to her that we were in the front and if we put her up she'd just get taken off by secruity and that there was no point to do that. Making use of the kid next to me, she started to grind her .... into his leg and this point the kid freaked out and secruity took them away.
But I've got to give it up for the best band ever assembled, Alkaline Trio. As everyone knows they are playing "Goddamnit!" the entire way through. They played every chord and hit every note the exact same way as the record. There isn't many bands out there that can do this. Being in the front row on the left side of the stage, I was right in front of Matt. We made eye contact and he pointed to be an awful lot. That really made me get more into the music. One thing I want to mention that hasn't previously been posted on the shows reviews so far for this tour, during "Enjoy Your Day" Matt and Dan switch instruments. It was interesting to see what the other can do with the other ones instrument. They had a different style and it was great. It was kinda funny cause Matt held the bass like he would a guitar, and Dan held a guitar like he would hold a bass. Not only did they play the entire "Goddamnit!" album, but they played the majority of "Good Mourning." Looking at set list from this tour, they haven't played a lot of songs. A lot of people who are fans of Alkaline Trio say this record is one of their worst, well in my opinion, it was one of their best. Obviously judging by my user name you'd see that. A band that can play whole cds at a time are rare. Not many bands have had a tour like this, so Alkaline Trio as always impressed me.
If you want to see a band that will surprise you, see Alkaline Trio. Even if you aren't a fan, you've got to have respect for these talent and recognize their heart and their talent.

Songs that are bolded represent the songs I cried through.
(I'm missing one song and I can't seem to remember what it is. As far as I know these right here are in order, however.)
