Check out the staff recommendations for the week (click "Read More" to view all of them because there's a whole lot of good stuff this week) and leave comments in the replies.
Jason Tate - Getting myself in trouble with all of the labels desperately trying to sign them ... I recommend Scenes from a Movie (http://www.absolutepunk.net/scenesfromamovie). And to begin the hype I'll toss in My Favorite Highway (http://www.purevolume.com/myfavoritehighway) and Underoath (http://www.absolutepunk.net/underoath) as well. For good measure: 812 Dirty Squad (http://www.absolutepunk.net/812dirtysquad) gets a shout out too.
Frank - I recommend Dropping Daylight (http://www.myspace.com/droppingdaylight).
Tony - I recommend Midrange (http://www.myspace.com/midrange). They're a totally rad pop-rock band from Dallas. Only 361 Myspace friends for such an awesome band? Let's show them the love, Absolutepunk.
Drew - Thursday (http://www.thursday.net), Thursday, and more Thursday. The more I listen to A City By The Light Divided, the deeper I fall in love with it. Check out my review for it here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=131096).
Rohan - This week I had Sammy from Hello Vegas (http://www.myspace.com/hellovegas) join me for some good ol' recs (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=3159616).
Darren - Forget music. NHL Playoff Hockey is where its at. Go Sens!
Gabe - Choke (http://www.chokeonline.com) and go Flames!
Brandon H. - This week I recommend The Stilet... Just kiddin. This week I have been listening to alot of Regina Spektor (http://www.reginaspektor.com/)
Ryan - I did recs (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=3160840#post316084 0) with forum user iHATEapril this week.
Jonathan: My recs can be found here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=131363). This week I'm joined by our forum user FeynmanWannabe (http://www.absolutepunk.net/member.php?u=38642).

Scenes From A Movie have become such a joke that its absurd. They are so boring live and all of their songs sound the same. Not to mention that they aren't the nicest people in the world.

Oh......and the Red Wings are where it's at. Detroit represent.

I've heard that, but man that single is not so hot.

"Hate Me" is the single that, sadly, does wear out after a few listens. However, the rest of the stuff more than makes up for it. If you want some other songs, check out "She's My Ride Home" or "Into the Ocean".

i seriously dont hope you mean the blue october from houston, i will have to slash your tires.

I'm with you, dude. Although "Foiled" is an awesome album, Blue October is much more about the live show..even if you don't quite dig them on the radio, go see them live if you get the chance. Way more of an "experience" than just about any of your favorite bands discussed on this site. Check it.

You are entirely right. I first got into them when the college station near my hometown started playing "Breakfast after 10" and "HRSA". I liked the songs the first few times I heard them, but I later saw them at a birthday concert for said radio station. They blew me the fuck away, and I immediately got "Consent to Treatment" and have never looked back.

I'd really like to see what some of the reviewers on this website have to say about Blue October, if anything. They seem to be sane and able to give an opinion on something without asinine remarks like "If you like this band I'll slash your tires."

Anyone?

So i've been in love with Dropping Daylight since I saw them play on the Ernie Ball stage in Chicago IL at Warped Tour 2004. They had a three song demo with "Waiting Through The Afternoon", C Sharp and I can't recall the third song. I was blown away by their performance while I was walking by and then the 3 song demo was also amazing. Fast forward to almost 2 full years later and the band still doesn't have their full length out. I truly belive this band would be huge by now if they had signed with an Indie label rather then going with Octone right out of the gate. Needless to say, I'm still a huge fan and love the new record but just wish they were a lot bigger by now.

how many cookie cutter bands can you enjoy tate? what exactly is original about this band?

Wait, you come here for original bands? What the fuck is wrong with you?

A) Not a single band you listen to or anyone here listens to is "original." It's all been done before, and if you think it hasn't you're only kidding yourself.
B) I don't need a band to be original to enjoy them.
C) Who cares? Seriously, if you don't like them - don't listen to them. I think that's easy enough. I enjoy them; millions of others will, and I enjoy a whole lot of "unoriginal" music. My favorite bands are unoriginal. Here's the kicker, yours are too.

Hell yeah! Finally, someone besides Darren and me is recommending CHOKE! Thanks Gabe! Everyone needs to check out this band! I've been following them for almost ten years now, and they're one of the very few bands who consistently surprise, challenge and amaze me! They've put out four great albums, each one better than the last, and their latest "Slow Fade or: How I Learned To Question Infinity" is a pure masterpiece! Not easy listening by any stretch of the imagination, but an amazing work of art. Go listen to CHOKE!

Ive been listening to that 812 Dirty Squad stuff all night. Its amazing. I was just at Lil 500 in Bloomington In. (where they are from) and they went to school with one of my friends here at Missouri. Check out their profile, some of their beats are pretty tight and the rhymes are hilarious.
