I know there's a leak floating around the 'net, but I figured I'd post this up for those who haven't heard the new record yet. Exclaim.ca has a full stream of the new ETID album up on their site, right here: http://exclaim.ca/#albumoftheweek

What is everyone's thoughts? I'm personally digging it. A bit of a departure from the usual, but it's reminding me of Hot Damn! for some reason, which, in my opinion, is their best album. Not that ETID really release bad albums, but it's a personal favourite. Pretty much everything this band does is gold, "New Junk" included.

I will not listen to this record until I have it in my hands.

new album is a disappointment. their worst album.

it's just not as creative, music-wise. until i get my pre-order in and read the lyrics, i'm not sure on the quality of those.

the music seems repetitive.

I've had it for a few days, and I've been enjoying it. Love "Roman Holiday".

there are a lot of Hot Damn moments, but I still think it sounds most like The Big Dirty, which is not a bad thing.

Hmm, I think I can wait one more week. I've only heard the single one time through as well so this will be a completely blank slate for me when I get it. Haven't had that with an album for years.

I was not aware it was up for streaming. Cool. I heard 30 second previews but they all basically sounded the same. "Wanderlust" is still my favorite, now I'll give the whole album a listen.

essentially what i came here to say.

this album is one of my favorites they've put out.
i liked the big dirty, a lot, and you get that same vibe with this album, but with less songs that are trying to be singles/straight forward.
all of the songs just rip so hard.

I think after my first listen of NJA (could change obviously), I'd say:

Hot Damn! = Gutter Phenomenon > NJA >> The Big Dirty >>>> LNIT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Burial Plot Bidding War

this album rules so hard. not quite as good as hot damn! but it is a very close second.

You all are retarded. Saying Hot Damn! Is the best record is ridiculously scene. This new record sounds nothing like Hot Damn like some of you are claiming. Its fucking sick. A little Big Dirty mixed with Gutter Phenom and a tiny sprinkle of Last Night in Town.

1. The Big Dirty
2. New Junk Aesthetic
3. Hot Damn
4. Last Night in Town
5. Gutter Phenomenon
6. Burial Plot Bidding War

NJA may end up clinching the #1 spot...

You are a moron. What the fuck does liking an album the most have to do with being scene?!

The more I listen to this, the more I like it. It's actually so good. There are a lot of layers there too and every one I peel back reminds me of a different album, yet, it stands alone as something pretty unique. I cannot wait till this comes out next week, I am dying to see the artwork and lyrics.

a lot of people on here are exactly like that though. saying HD is their best overall/ever/etc... is so retarded. if there are reasons, then fine, but most people just agree like when people say that weezer - pinkerton is their best.

there's nothing wrong with feeling that way, but the majority of people on here i've talked to about it seems to just jump on board with everyone else and just repeat others.

If I don't like their past two albums, would I not like this?

honestly, it might be their most boring album.

Weird you'd say that considering TBD is your favorite album by them. This one just sounds like a combination between that album and HD. Not a bad thing by any means.

i don't know. TBD has more twists and turns and seems WAY heavier than NJA. i like the lyrics for TBD better as well.

don't get me wrong, i think NJA is an alright album, not absolute crap or anything, i was just let down by it.
